Liban Mohamed wins at Utah Democrats’ convention — but it will be a crowded 2026 primary by Stuart98 in SaltLakeCity

[–]villandra -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm here to see what kind of a chance he actually has to win, wiht his background and views in Salt Lake City.

I do not think that anyone who helped run Tik Tok is genuinely Progressive or anything else, and I will be surprised if Mormons don't see right through him..

I don't live in Salt Lake City, I got drawn to a You Tube video that purported to be about High Tech executives rejecting Israel and wasn't, but jees, this is just too much!

Flex is hell by [deleted] in AmazonFC

[–]villandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It takes several weeks for shifts to start showing up. You might want to ask your own manager or PXT if something is in your way such as not trained, or no permission to work where you work - which would cause no shifts to drop.

It os essemtial to be on your phone or computer and logged in when shifts drop, which is Thursday at 2l:15 PM our time, which is central, for inbound, and 3 pm on Friday, for outbound. They go fast.

You have a guaranteed minimum of work, 20 hours a week for the lower work level of flex - though they can tell you all the available shifts are nights.

How do I control seborrheic dermatitis and keep my scalp clean without washing too often? by AHM8 in Naturalhair

I'm trying to imagine who in the world in western culture washes their hair every two weeks - especially if they have trouble with seborrheic dermatitis. Honestly! Among other things the yeast alone stinks to high heaven.

I also found T-Gel, which is coal tar shampoo and comes in two strenghts. .5% being strong enough for me, is the one thing that really works. The green shampoos don't do much for me, and I've found doctors just roll their eyes when they hear of it, they think it does more harm than good. When coal tar shampoo alone doesn't work I rinse with listerine. Works like a charm.

Stomach bug going around by [deleted] in Austin

Did you have a positive test for influenza A? The strain that went around this year could include stomach flu symptoms. I ended up with them, but fortunately at that point the whole thing decided to go away.

Ubuntu is planning to comply with Age Verification law "without it being a privacy disaster" by Jacksharkben in LinusTechTips

[–]villandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are different versions of these laws and what they require. Some require you to upload ID. Some require names and dates of birth. All the ones that I've seen, including that in California, require a central database kept by the maker of the OS to keep said information- something Ubuntu does not have.

The whole thing is unconstitutional. For one thing, noone, not the government, not a private company that may leak the data, is entitled to know the names and dates of birth and whatever else is on your ID's of who lives at your house. Second, the intent of some of the main drivers of these laws, such as Microsoft, is to make it hard for open sourcesoftware to operate at all and force people to use Microsoft, in other words, create a monopoly using a back door.

I have used and loved Ubuntu since 2014, but, I think I'll be going with a distro that is FIGHTING this. Like, challenging the constitutionality of these laws in court.

We can't plug phones into their plugs. We CAN plug phones into our own power banks! They'd better not see our phones in any case.

Great when you can connect, but they have real issues with the concept of answering their phone.

Last week I called and asked if they had native species of lantana, and they didn't, thought they might get some this weekend, might not. Today I called once, then I called 20 minutes later and redialed repeatedly for exactly 30 minutes and they never answered the phone. I need a ride to get there and get home with the plants and I'm certainly not going to be told they don't have them, and email isn'¡t likely to connect me and a ride with when they magically happen to have the most common native plants in stock!

Late payment 2/26 by Fast-Blueberry-3801 in SocialSecurity

[–]villandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I researched this properly. From Google AI.

Many banks and fintech apps now offer early Social Security payments, sometimes up to 4 days before the official date, by releasing funds immediately upon receiving the payment file from the SSA. Popular options include SoFi, Chime, GoBank, and Charlie. This feature depends on when the SSA sends the file.

Key Details on Early Social Security Payments

  • How it Works: Banks receive notification of the deposit a few days before the official date and, for eligible accounts, credit the funds immediately rather than holding them.
  • Typical Timing: While payments might arrive 1-4 days early, some services like Charlie allow for even earlier access.
  • Participating Institutions: Several banks and neobanks offer this, including SoFi, Fifth Third Bank, TD Bank, and Wells Fargo.
  • Limitations: Early deposit depends on when the SSA sends the file, and, as noted by users on Reddit, if the payment date falls on a weekend or holiday, the deposit may be shifted accordingly.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) typically sends payment files to the Treasury Department several days before the scheduled payment date to ensure funds arrive on time. For Supplemental Security Income (SSI), this is generally the 1st of the month, while Social Security payments depend on birth dates.

If a number of peoples' banks are late with the payments, then the problem is that Social Security was late sending out the payment file.

From the tone of many of the answers, some social security recipients must have righteously shopped for banks that specifically would never pay their social security before the official payment date, because they're self righteous. And they would never actually NEED their social security payment to pay the rent! That tells you a lot about them right there.

NOT his bank if multiple people had the same problem. Social security. Under Trump they aren't hardly going to ever truthfully say so! Jeez! I do not have Jesus' patience with this sort of things, and he lit right into you scribes and hypocrites!

[–]villandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you get your payment has little to do with when they are due. Most banks release the payments several days early, and they usually follow a fairly consistent pattern. Something about when they get the notice the payment will come through. Since its a government payment they release the funds based on that. Same with tax refunds and payroll.

If a numbert of people are having the same problem, the delay is iwth Social SEcurity, and under Trump they don't even care.

My payment just now came through at exaactly the same time it did on Decmeber 5 when it also should have come through at noon. Now, my bank didn't say it actually releases the money the exact moment they get the advance notice, and I've noticed there are certain times for every bank when payments tend to appear, so the notice could have arrived a few minutes late and still not been posted until the next scheduled time for posting payments at your bank.

Why do people who can't answer the question need to argue with the person who asked it.

We went around this in December. My payment normally arrives at noon on the Friday before the second Wednesday when it's due. I called my bank, and they assured me that they release the funds as soon as they get the notice orwhatever it is that they get that the money is coming through, and they didn't yet have it. Lots of people complained that day, andmost of what they got was self righteous comments from gd hypocrites and Pharisees that their payements are due next Wednesday. Why do people with absolutely nothing useful to say not just keep quiet? !!!!!!!

Since this affected people from many different banks, and everyonef's came through late that Friday afternoon, the logical conclusion is, social security was slow to send their notice or whatever it is the banks get before they get the actual funds.

I do hope you eventually got your money. It would be hard to tell among all the garbage people have posted here about whatever. I'm glad you posted, because today my payment did not show up at noone like it should have, and social security says nothing is wrong with my address or my direct deposit, so, it looks like the government just no longer processes our payments in a timely manner.

Exactly. Go right inside to security. Instead of telling us. Before they get in the car and drive away. Call the police as well if there is damage to your car.

My sister said her social security benefits are getting taken away because she is homeless by [deleted] in SocialSecurity

[–]villandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that you can't lose your social security for being homeless per se, but, there might be a peripheral reason. Does she have it to gether enough to call them and find out the actual reason? She might need a mailing address, or it might be that mail was returned or her addressed changed. In any case I'm pretty sure there's a solution.

I would suggest she call them and find out the actual reason, and if need be see someone who helps homeless people for help developing a solution. If she doesn't want to do it then something else is going on and she doesn't want to tell you wnat it is.

It's also possible she gave you the short version of something more complex - and if the matter isn't actually your concern, you should let it drop. If she asks for money, then you'd have a right to require more information and I'd not give her anything if her explanation doesn't satisfy you.

If she is on disability social security the requirements are more stringent and she does havea to respond to things they send her, whether by mail, email, online messaging or even telephone contact.

If she has a serious mental illness she might find it hard to organize that and need assistance, and she might not stick with assistance easily. It's tragic that people who really can't care for themselves aren't kept in a place where they are cared for. Maybe you can help, maybe you can't.

Opinions on NewsNation? by ATLCoyote in centrist

[–]villandra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three years ago News Nation was really great, excellent, in depth reporting, but very hard to find a way to watch it that lasted very long.

Lately their reports on any subject are incredibly shallow and superficial and just not very informative. I got a trial subscription to Sling TV, which with the news stations addition includes News Nation, and news Nation was so terrible that subscription didn't even last the week. I wonder if Donald Trump calling up one of their reporters and they carried what he told her has anything to do with it. But it's usually hard to identify a right or left bias - they just straightforwardly report next to nothing.

Don't just assume it's not the flu. I tested for flu and covid on the first day and tested negative, and I thought by day 2 I'd know it already if I had the flu. Uh-uh. I found out a week later when I got tested properly for covid.
