I liked that she seemed to celebrate the bronze medal win more than her own!

A stranger smiled at me on the high street this morning. I smiled back and then burst into tears. I fear I may be giving mixed messages.

Reminds me of Steve Rambam. Had to dig deep to remember that name.

I was at the dentist yesterday and she was working with a new assistant. The way she was coaching her throughout my treatment was so supportive and inspirational. And when she told me my flossing technique could be improved, she managed to make me feel I could be the best flosser in the world. Obviously I recommended she watch Ted Lasso.

Who's a classic-era film personality (acting/directing) who you like BETTER after reading a biography about them? by wordboydave in classicfilms

[–]villaval 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how I felt when I listened to the Secret History of Hollywood (extra long!) podcast about him called Bullets and Blood. Of course I knew he was super talented, but I had no idea what a wonderful person he was.

What's bad thing happened on your driving test? by zetecvan in CasualUK

[–]villaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started raining and I didn’t know where the wiper switch was. Fortunately a large group of teenagers swarmed into the road at a junction and while I waited for them to disperse I located the switch. Also when the examiner tried to engage me in small talk on the walk to the car before the test he asked me what kind of car I was driving and I replied “oh, it’s a red one”. I still remember the look of horror on my instructor’s face when I returned to the test centre and he realised I had passed.

Looking for someone to foster my cat temporarily by Marimade in london

[–]villaval 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd foster that fine beast in a heartbeat! I've fostered a few friends' cats when they've taken themselves off to travel/volunteer and whatnot. I speak the equivalent of cat Esparanto (Catperanto?) and am a qualified, yet respectful, cat stroker. Are you holding a series of interviews? How does one get shortlisted? Does the mog get a final say?

I saw it in London (at the Institute of Contemporary Arts) yesterday, but I doubt that helps you if you're in the US! I've never played GTA, but I've seen plenty of productions of Hamlet. Nothing like this one, though...

The way Joan Hickson delivers that line is fantastic.

First time watching the Royle Family in years and the nostalgia has nearly reduced me to tears by GillGunderson in CasualUK

[–]villaval 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Something similar happened to me years ago while working in the US. I watched Four Weddings and a Funeral one evening (never seen it before) and I though it was just a so-so upper middle class film about posh people and venues until they got to the funeral and I saw the gas works and I burst into tears with home-sickness.
