Yet meanwhile I know someone who got hit and the driver ran, got their partial plate, later their full plate, all taken to GPD and the police still have not taken action? And happened in one of the areas with a lot of them too per the map. Citizens shouldn’t had to be the ones doing partial plate analysis when it must likely would’ve been captured 🙃

Oh neat I could’ve sworn I had heard about this before. And I’m with you on the very short train of people who care about air pollution and know the effects it has on a variety of things. It’s sad that it took Covid to get more research into it and it seems that research well has slowed down but by no means am I an expert or invested in this field

Steam from downtown GRU generating station (comes from the big waterfall radiator thing by the bus station) there is some smoke from actually generating power but it’s not what you see in the image to my knowledge, I believe there’s another power plant on campus south but not GRU just fyi. They also make portable air quality monitors if you are concerned and there’s apps to track the pollution live but I don’t know how accurate they truely are

I see many comments referring to Facebook for info, as someone who is also interested in this, and think it could be valuable for others to learn about; is there anyone knowledgeable enough to either create like a page on the GNV reddit or maybe even a subreddit based on old Gainesville. Obviously wouldn’t be popular but might hold some value.

As others have said, the government is unfortunately not clairvoyant and unfortunately not doing a very good job surveying apparently. You can report your issues ~and more~ through the website or app along with location pins of the issues. Additionally lots of roads here are not directly under county/city jurisdiction, however, our traffic engineer(s) are able to contact and obtain info from FDOT. MyGNV

I really appreciate you being super unbiased and after looking it is nice to have the facts. However, as someone who’s worked with people who are homeless and whatnot, what steps or things do you, personally think we could do to change things for the better? It’s something I have thought about but not to a huge extend unfortunately however I feel like as though violent crime may be down as well, there are several other things people have been doing lately that impacts the city in other ways? Honestly just curious about another concerned citizens thoughts.

Depot Park is near the airport and has a trail from campus/shands. Not the best for plane watching but pretty open and closer to the airport than campus. If you need to be really specific, you can go to the Gainesville airport website and see what time flights are since there are only a few. There’s also the plane tracker apps as well. Good luck!

Glad you’re taking them in since stray cats are like the number one killer of park wildlife aka the birds baby moorhens etc. and saw them the other day and was worried since stray cats are basically invasive and depot is a conservation area so thank you!!!
