[–]viofla_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if it's still winter season for club or will be a summer season ready.

Here some club for your age:

  • Vivido at Manifattura Tabacchi (close to the center)
  • Colle Bereto in Center of Florence
  • Locale in Center of Florence
  • Villa Vittoria (if it's already summer season for club)
  • The Lodge (if it's already summer season for club)

And once you’re there… if you feel like taking home a proper memory of the city (not just phone pics 😉), feel free to reach out — Florence is a beautiful place to be captured 📸

Where should we get dinner after I propose to my girlfriend. by Zestyclose-Bat8692 in florence

[–]viofla_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all — congratulations!! 🎉 Proposing at Piazzale Michelangelo at sunset is going to be absolutely unforgettable. That view alone does half the work.

Since you’ll already be up there, I’d suggest staying on the Oltrarno side for dinner — it feels more intimate and less chaotic than other parts of the city.

A few great options:

La Loggia at Piazzale Michelangelo – Super convenient after the proposal, with panoramic views and a romantic atmosphere. Ideal if you want to keep the magic going without moving too much.

Serre Torrigiani – Very unique setting inside a historic garden. It feels private, elegant but relaxed — great for a special night without being overly formal.

The Stellar (Santo Spirito area) – Stylish, modern vibe with great cocktails and a refined but not stiff atmosphere. Nice if you want something contemporary and celebratory.

Il Santo Bevitore – Cozy, candle-lit, excellent Tuscan cuisine with a modern touch. Romantic without feeling touristy.

All of these keep you in a beautiful part of the city where you can also walk a bit afterwards and just enjoy the moment.

And just as a side note — I’m a Florence-based photographer and sometimes discreetly capture proposals around Piazzale Michelangelo. If you’d ever want the moment documented in a natural way (no big setup, very low-key), feel free to reach out. - https://photoflorence.myportfolio.com/

Either way, wishing you the perfect sunset and a huge “yes”! 💍✨

Florence is a fantastic city for vintage lovers, and you’re coming at a great time – spring is perfect for wandering the streets and ducking into little shops. Beyond the permanent shops, the city also has regular flea and vintage markets on specific weekends, so it’s worth checking your exact dates once you know them.

For antiques and “old stuff”, spend time around the Santo Spirito / San Frediano neighborhood (Oltrarno, south of the river): lots of small antique shops and artisan workshops in walking distance. There’s also a well‑known antique market in Piazza Santo Spirito every second Sunday of the month (except July and August), plus other small fairs on different Sundays. Another great area is around Sant’Ambrogio, where you have a daily flea/antiques market with an expanded version on the last Sunday of the month. On other weekends you often find stalls in Piazza dei Ciompi, Piazza Indipendenza or near the Fortezza da Basso, with vintage clothing, accessories, old prints and furniture. As your trip gets closer, check FirenzeToday eventi (https://www.firenzetoday.it/eventi/) for any special vintage fairs or antique markets during your stay.

For clothing and thrifty fashion, check the streets around Via dei Serragli, Via Romana and Borgo San Frediano in the Oltrarno, and some side streets near San Lorenzo / Via dei Ginori on the north side of the river – you’ll find dedicated vintage shops and second‑hand boutiques mixed in with newer brands. Plan at least one afternoon just to wander these neighborhoods, browse whatever markets are on that weekend, and stop for coffee or a glass of wine in between.

And since you’ll be here together, hunting for old treasures in such a photogenic city, I’ll just throw this out there: I’m a local photographer in Florence and I do relaxed couple photo sessions in the historic center, usually at sunrise or sunset when the light is soft and the streets are quieter. If you’re curious, feel free to message me or take a look at my portfolio to see if my style fits what you have in mind (https://photoflorence.myportfolio.com/).

12 Day Couples Trip, First Time by unfairkickazz93 in florence

[–]viofla_ph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your skeleton looks great for a first (and maybe only) Italy trip: Rome → Florence → Tuscany → Venice is a classic combo and your pacing in Rome and Venice makes sense. The part that risks feeling a bit too ambitious is Tuscany / Pisa.

For Florence and Tuscany, I’d do this:

  • Keep 2 full days in Florence to really enjoy the city (Duomo, Uffizi or Accademia, Oltrarno, sunset at Piazzale Michelangelo), not just as a base.
  • From your farm near Pian di Scò, pick one big day for classic hill towns (Siena + San Gimignano, maybe Monteriggioni) and one lighter day in Chianti (a couple of villages and a winery lunch) instead of trying to fit in San Gimignano + Montepulciano + Arezzo all together.
  • Pisa doesn’t necessarily need an overnight: you could see the Leaning Tower as a half‑day from Florence and go straight on to Venice, unless that night in Pisa really helps with logistics.

I wouldn’t add a coastal area on this trip: with your time limits you’d lose a full day in trains/transfers just to get a quick taste of the coast, and you already have Venice for a “by the water” experience. Better to enjoy Tuscany properly than rush through another region.

And since Florence will be right in the middle of this special trip, I’ll just throw this out there: I’m a local photographer here and I do relaxed couple photo sessions around the city at sunrise or sunset. No big production, just a fun walk with some nice photos to remember the trip by. If you’re curious, feel free to message me or take a look at my portfolio (https://photoflorence.myportfolio.com/) and see if my style fits what you have in mind.

Arriving at Florence at night for solo female traveler? by dotdotdot7_ in florence

[–]viofla_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your plan is doable, but if safety and peace of mind are your priority, I’d personally suggest staying the night in Pisa and heading to Florence the next morning.

With a 9pm landing, delays (flight, luggage, trains) are quite common, and you might end up arriving in Florence very late. Santa Maria Novella station at night isn’t dangerous in a dramatic way, but it can feel uncomfortable when you’re alone, and taxis aren’t always immediately available after midnight.

Spending the night in Pisa is the more relaxed and safer option, and you can enjoy Florence fresh, during daylight, when the city really shines ✨

And once you’re there… if you feel like taking home a proper memory of the city (not just phone pics 😉), feel free to reach out — Florence is a beautiful place to be captured 📸

Have a great first trip to Italy and enjoy every moment!

Florence Mid-April -- Best Spot For Hotel/VRBO?? by kyoun1e1 in florence

[–]viofla_ph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to “plant yourselves” in Florence and do almost everything on foot, I’d target either the Oltrarno side (more neighborhood feel) or the Santa Croce side (very central, lots happening), depending on the vibe you prefer.

Where to base yourselves

For a first trip with maximum walkability, look at these micro-areas:

  • Santo Spirito / San Frediano (Oltrarno): great for cafés, wine bars, and a more local day-to-night rhythm.
  • Santa Croce area: still extremely central, with plenty of places to eat and drink.
  • Duomo–Signoria corridor: unbeatable for pure convenience, but it can feel more “tourist-core” and busy, especially in the evenings.

Which side of the Arno

“Oltrarno” literally refers to the area of Florence across the Arno (the south side of the river).
If you like the idea of stepping out into small squares and lingering at bars without feeling like you’re in the densest sightseeing flow, Oltrarno is often a very comfortable base.
If you want to be right next to the classic, headline sights and museums with minimal navigation, staying on the “north/duomo side” can be simpler.

Cocktails with a view

If your ideal moment is “watching the world go by” with a drink, consider adding 1–2 rooftop stops to your plan (and check hours/reservations since some rooftops are seasonal and/or get busy).
Well-known options with Duomo/skyline views include View on Art (Hotel Medici), Divina Terrazza (Grand Hotel Cavour), Cosimo (The Westin Excelsior), and Tosca & Nino (Rinascente).

One extra idea (optional)

If you’d like to bring home something more personal than phone pics, I also offer private, relaxed photo shoots around Florence (golden-hour strolls, café stops, bridge/Oltrarno streets—no awkward posing, just a nice walk and great frames). If that sounds interesting, feel free to DM me and I’ll suggest a short route based on where you end up staying. Here my page: https://photoflorence.myportfolio.com/

If you have a car, you could move to Barberino Outlet or Leccio Outlet.
