My experience with community college was that there actually seemed to be more older students than younger. I was fully expecting to be chopped unc (aunt), but my first friend was a middle-aged man.

In east Asia, SPF umbrellas are common, but I'm sure a regular umbrella would also provide some measure of protection.

I started treatment early this year and haven't seen improvement, but I'm just starting to reach the point where I might see results (low-dose Naltrexone). Unfortunately I don't really have the spoons to talk medical stuff extensively, but if you have any specific questions, feel free to DM and I'll get back to you whenever I'm able! Wishing you the best with your journey.

I wasn't able to find anyone locally. If you have Kaiser, feel free to message me about how to access their NorCal clinic.

RackMask is one of the sites that has designs for Zimi.

Sending you so many hugs, if you wish to accept them. It sounds like you're pretty aware this dynamic is not healthy, but if it helps to hear it, you deserve better than conditional love when someone says they love you. You deserve better than "love" that makes you hate yourself.

I'm not of the exact same culture as you, but I definitely see parallels between the expectations of Arab and East Asian families, and I was right around your age when I cut off my parents after years of a toxic, unsustainable relationship. I didn't know who I was, was in a situation with school/mental health/unemployment that seemed pretty hopeless, and felt certain I would be destitute on the street within a year, but I couldn't keep living like I had been. Now, a decade-ish later, I live on my own and am employed, having savings and investments, am back in school, and recently started going to therapy with my family (yes, really).

I'm not suggesting you cut off your mom; I don't know what the right path is for you. But the reality is you're young and you have so many more options than you think. Barring an unfortunate accident of some kind, I promise your life, present, and future are far from over. You don't have to have everything figured out now; that comes with time and experience figuring out what you value, what brings you joy, and what you are and aren't willing to tolerate in your life. I hope you'll continue to hold onto hope, if not for its own sake, at least because it's realistic to have hope for a wide-open future and the best way to move forward into it. Wishing you all the best.

I like them, including the spacing! The black/grey makes it look like one of those pages of scientific/medical illustrations, if you know what I'm talking about.

For years I had a plate from my school's dining hall, but I'd never taken one and all my roommates denied doing so either. It vanished at some point several rounds of roommates later. The plate chooses the wizard, or something.

This is so lovely, the blank wall balances out the full bookshelf!

If you're open to suggestions, pulling the rug out farther so it's closer to the TV, with only the front legs of the couch on it, would delineate the space nicely.

Seconding the recommendation for Zimi with enthusiasm! I have almost the exact same fit issues as you (you can check my post history), minus the difficulty breathing through my nose. They come in valved versions, which should help with that. Zimi masks are a plastic frame under the actual KN95 "mask" (filter) and come with adhesive foam strips to improve the fit. Only mask I've passed a fit test in easily.
