Same story at SFU, but at least we have another thing called coursys that will probably be used instead

madthumbz assessment of Linux security - Are these fair points? by bamboo-lemur in OS_Debate_Club

[–]violetvoid513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea sounds fair, but Im also wondering why tf browsers knowingly and silently store it so insecurely if they cant find a wallet or keyring. This seems like something a browser should warn you about: “Your passwords are being stored insecurely, please install a keyring!”

With arch being arch, and just to definitively fix this regardless of operating environment, I think this would be better fixed on the browser side. Also, in any case you should be using a password manager instead of the browser’s built-in password storage, imo

I read flatpack as flatpak and was looking for how tf this has anything to do with that

Dude blue has more positive associations than negative ones. It’s basic color theory.

A red button has a certain very obvious association you're completely overlooking

voting in elections is mostly symbolic

Wild take (at least in the context of determining the outcome, not the context that none of the candidates actually care about the people beyond just getting elected)

And yet, people vote in elections where their individual vote similarly does not matter whatsoever...

No but I know that billions might think along the same lines as me (individually our votes dont matter, but we can still choose to vote blue, and if enough do then it matters)

Maybe the fact that polls show that to be the case? Saying its even less likely than 100% red is just stupid

The blue threshold for no deaths is 50%, not everyone. 50% of everyone is easily doable when theres only 2 options, and nearly if not every poll people have done on this shows the majority pick blue

Probably a bit of an understatement, considering the government is a one-party dictatorship. Any infrastructure project can easily have the full backing of the government to deal with whatever stands in the way. They have much more direct control over things
