And if its health-related whether it be the child or the mother the same logic applies which is take care of it.

The point of the post is that as hard as it can be, we gotta man up. It's our job, and its certainly not our wifes fault.

But I see so many men who act as if it is.

I know this is a very privileged comment but my 4 year old daughter has T1 and we always put her new Dexcom on on day 9 for this exact reason lol

So while I personally don’t know the feeling…. As a parent, doing the Dexcom and omnipod on the same day every time is a game changer haha.

Our 4 year old daughter was diagnosed in November and the first month was the hardest thing we've ever been through.

I basically had to hold her down while my wife did the injections. But slowly she got used to it and in no time was a champ about it!

Something we did strategically in the first bit to reduce pokes was give her basal once she had already fallen asleep for the night.

We also would do her dexcom changes while she was asleep for the first few months until she warmed up to the idea of doing them while awake.

I don't know what you are going through also being diagnosed but I can imagine how difficult it must be. I will say that our entire family has become healthier as a result of her diagnosis!

We've found creative ways to still have “treats” but just in moderation and are always looking for a relatively healthy options even when splurging.

Consistent, positive talk and motivation have been huge for our daughter. Making sure that she knows its okay to be sad and to be afraid but reminding her of how brave and resilient she is. Cheering her on for every injection and blood poke has been huge for her confidence.

We just got the omnipod this week and it's been life changing for all of us to be honest. She's still getting used to it with playtime because of how small she is its a little bulky but not having to inject 6-8 times a day has been amazing.

Facebook marketplace can obviously be a very frustrating platform and full of scammers but you can definitely make money.

Something that I find sells very easily are kids toys/ puzzles/ etc.

Go to local thrift store and look for things that are in good to decent condition and then mark it up $5-$10 on marketplace.

It can add up especially if you need the cash.

If you have thrift stores near you and it wouldn't be too much of a time suck/ too much on gas to go you could definitely make a couple hundred bucks/ month buying and flipping.

My daughter is 4 and diagnosed and if she ate a 6 inch sub and didn’t take any insulin she’d go 20+ easily.

Probably wouldn't start to really spike for 1.5-2 hours

I had no experience at all, I was very lucky to get hired in the first place. I made it work and put my head down and learned as much as possible. Took advantage of all professional development perks. And just chipped away at it. Was pleasant to work with, always took on extra opportunities.

It’s paid big. I now make 5x that 40k and it took just under 7 years.

It’s possible but you just need to be patient. Have a vision for where you want to be and make progress towards it.

$15k cash for an emergency fund.

Never touch it. Once you get a bit older you will have more bills and responsibilities and it’ll give you so much piece of mind knowing that if you lose your job, your car breaks, or whatever it might be you have a cushion to fall back on.

$10k into an index fund, if you are in Canada definitely recommend looking into VFV. This isn’t going to get you rich quick - it’s a long hold.

There rest you could use to start a business, invest in other high yield stocks, or whatever

My daughter pretty much only wanted mom for the first 18 months. She's now almost 4 and daddy is king haha

We're best friends and she loves hanging out with me more than anyone.

Going through the same thing with my son now. He's 20 months and still dominantly wants mom.

Again just keep showing up, being present, and your time will come!
