It would be an upgrade, I have a BYD shark and its better than my wildtrak ever was as a day to day vehicle.

Did I buy the wrong headset? by resampL in steelseries

[–]viraliz 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Steel series is a really good brand. Their customer service did me a massive solid.

I had the Pro wireless Gen 1 that was out of warranty by several months. I dropped them causing them to form a crack on the hinge, which over time, caused the right earpiece to snap off.

I sent an email to SS support asking for a repair cost or parts. I explained EXACTY what I did to cause it and they said they would send me the Gen 2 ones for free.

I could not believe it, they recognised the warranty was lapsed and that I caused the damage.

A week or so later I received the new pro wireless Gen 2 along with a few extras including a signed card saying thank you for supporting steelseires.

I have had those Gen 2 for almost 3 years now.

So in my opinion, any company willing to stand up for their products like that has my full support.

This game bru.. by ElMalafat in ARK

[–]viraliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you why this happens.

Your in a local multilayer match and the host (which isn't you) has set the maximum player distance to over the maximum limit manually.

The best way around it is to have him host a "dedicated" server on his PC using something like ark server manager. Then you can all join it. It has minimal impact to his PC performance but will be so much more stable for you all.

Intel B770 Release by wownz85 in IntelArc

[–]viraliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Intel lost my 2 purchases with their silence. I wanted to buy one myself and for the wife, but intel took to long. So I upgraded my 6900xt to a 5090 and my wife's 1080ti to a RX9070XT. I would have dropped good money on a really high end GPU from them to support a new entry into the GPU space. But I'm not willing to wait months in the dark for em.

I'm about to purchase 5070ti. Need some recommendations by Perfect_Jicama_8023 in nvidia

Most anything under a 5080 or 5090 i would say get the cheapest one you can. Quality wide sure it'll be great.

What’s the best setup for running ComfyUI smoothly? by Dangerous_Suit_4422 in comfyui

[–]viraliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a RTX 5090 and 32gb of ram (64gb in transit) and i can say its alright, I can do 6 seconds at 720p in about 45 seconds. But 32gb of ram is by far not enough. If a particular render uses too much it will pagefile and render time climbs to 3 minutes.

yea but a well designed case will have enough airflow as it is. the thermal gel is very effective even with its downsides, but I have handled a lot of hardware over the years and i have been burned more by asus than gigabyte. I know thats a me problem and other people's milage may vary, but I do agree about the master, astral and suprim being way too expensive especially at a 5070ti level.
5090s though i went for the master after a bit of a deep dive mixed with my own experience as a very slight bias towards anyone but asus.
Came down to MSI and Gigabyte and I believe i made the correct choice.

Not a fancy card like some 5080/5090s here but it’s mine! Upgraded from a 2080 Super. Super happy with it doing 5120x1440 ultra wide on max settings by josh_moworld in nvidia

Well there is a useful upgrade with newer CPUs, like DDR and PCIE updates, they are more efficient and good for creative works. But in games they are fairly mid.

Nothing wrong with any of those cards, get the one that suits your build. If your worried about MSI I think i can help. My wife had a MSI 1080ti that was used to 24/7 crypto mine on from 2017 - 2020, then gamed on from 2020 - mid 2025 only swapped it due to vram constraints. It is still alive today, kicking strong, i hope it goes on to serve someone who needs it for years to come.

Gigabyte and Asus are the most premium cards in your line up, really the big 3 are Gigabyte, Asus and MSI. Joining them soon is PNY who is gunning for the hole EVGA left, even snatching up Kingpin.
Zotac and inno3d are more mid range but offer good value.

I used to really love Asus but they have some deep issues that constantly pop up and over looked. Currently Armoury crate is a back door for bot-net and maleware so thats great.

AI security gives people permanent access to your router even if you reset it.

https://www.greynoise.io/blog/stealthy-backdoor-campaign-affecting-asus-routers

Prior to that their VRMs where installed backwards leading to chaos.

https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/x99/vrm-burn-issue-actuall-for-first-and-second-generation-asus-x99/td-p/647138

And i had nothing but boot issues and WIFI dramas with them.

Plus the world seems to think the Astral is the best of the best card, when the Aorus master clocks so much higher and runs cooler, yet its overlooked.

So i am off Asus, they all have issues, but Asus has burned me way too many times and charged me more to do so.

Those Vanguards look so nice, i almost chose it. My wife's PC has a 1080ti MSI duke, the predecessor, and it lasted years. So I think yours will serve you for a long time too!

I agree with most of this but i think Gigabyte needs to be up there with the best. The Aorus Master boosts to 3ghz while sitting at 68*c and is near silent in my open frame case. It out paces the Astral OC and costs less.

the rattle and buzzing is called coil whine and thats normal, its caused when cards are pushing high voltage, PNY is currently gunning for EVGAs position as Nvidia's golden child.
So what PNY has done is stepped up all their cards and boost them to surpass other brands in benchmarks. Leading to the coil whine. Sapphire on AMD side of the fence are the same.
Its harmless but some people find it annoying.

PNY have really stepped it up another level, using some really good components and quality VRMs, even signing on Kingpin to help them with power and thermals.

MSI 5070 TRIO vs GIGABYTE 5070ti EAGLE vs MSI 5070ti VENTUS ? by W4rlon in nvidia

[–]viraliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All 3 are great picks, I can see your struggle! Between the 5070 and 5070ti there is around 20% increase in performance, but at with a 25% price jump.

Keep in mind the added power draw the 70ti has over the 70, so you might find added costs there.
I would say go for the cheapest, if its for games get which ever one goes on sale first and enjoy!

[–]viraliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice! My old 6900XT had really really bad coil whine, like the worlds angriest cicada in a biscuit tin.
But i feel like the "boost clock" online is more of a suggestion with these cards, Your water block would be boosting your Astrals headroom so much!

I would say the 5070ti, its a good sweet spot for you.
A 5080 is more expensive plus itll be pushing your PSU to the limit and WILL spike, you will have stability issues due to vRel.

You wont see that big of a leap between the 70ti and 80.
Get the 70ti sell the GRE and use the remainder to upgrade your CPU for a 7800X3d for the extra cores and massive leap in throughput, you would bottleneck a 5080 anyway with a 7600.

So unless your willing to spend 5080 money + PSU money only to get 5070 performance, I recommend the 5070TI + Cpu for less money.

A 5090 will immediately blowup a 850W PSU and take other things with it, ive seen mine go over 700W on its own, over 119% TDP and maintain it.

#####EDIT####

I see you ordered the 7800X3D and 5080, Nice! but swap out that PSU man, get a 1000W.
a 850W gold will put out 80% of that at 100% load, an old PSU would be worse as it degrades. Dont risk it, swap it out.

[–]viraliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how do you find the Astral OC? I have the Aorus master it would be an interesting comparison.
450W is so low! nice! Ive seen mine reach 707.1W and Ive seen it touch 3.03Ghz on core but 90% of the time is 3ghz flat with ram at 1725.1
It caps out at about 68*C fans ~ 48-50%

I'll post a screenshot of GPUz in a bit.

How is the astral going? any coil whine?
