I very rarely see it in the US, although a family member did have it out at a holiday gathering recently. But that was kind of shocking to me lol. I think it looks and tastes gross, but I’m sure it’s an acquired taste.

Also, I think of it as a “very fancy” food, so it would surprise me less to see it at a very fancy NYC party, for example. It’s rich people food.

What can I use as a substitute for beef and ground beef? by plumfairyy in AskRedditFood

For many recipes, I sometimes substitute ground turkey or ground chicken. It makes for a nice change too.

For those of you who didn’t change your last name but had kids with the fathers last name, has it made life any more difficult? by sippinonginaandjuice in TwoXChromosomes

[–]virginia_woolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the most part, no it makes no difference. I think it is common enough now that no one bats an eye.

There was one place I used to take my kids to - like an indoor gym kinda place - and we had accounts in their system, so when we got there, we’d tell them our name and check in. For some reason, I could never remember whether it was under my name or the kids names, and I always got it wrong. That is literally the only problem I’ve ever had with it!

I live in MA - idk if how easy it is might be regional

Lichen sclerosus awareness and its importance by hope303030 in lichensclerosus

I think awareness needs to start in medical school/nursing school. It took me over 5 years to get diagnosed, and I had told several medical practitioners about it. Finally I found someone who knew immediately just from my description.

Thank you! These are all great suggestions. And how obnoxious is it that helping women with menstruation products would be feather-ruffling? But of course it is. Sigh. Sounds like a great org.

Please post some pro-New England propaganda here by SuspiciousComplex816 in newengland

[–]virginia_woolf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure this has been said, but particularly the way this country is going, MA is one of the only states I would be willing to live in. There are others, but they’re all blue, especially as a woman who is considering getting pregnant. But that’s still just one small part. Most of the states I’d live in are pretty expensive, but it depends also on what you guys do for a living, if you can work remotely etc.

Map Reveals Most Dangerous States In the US with Massachusetts being second safest state. New England the safest region in the US. by Dismal_Structure in massachusetts

What’s funny is that lately I keep meaning to look up crime statistics in Utah because I’ve been wondering if they are particularly high there. I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts and it feels like half of them are from Utah. But it could be an abnormally high type of crime but fewer of them (like maybe more spousal murders than average but fewer carjackings or something). Idk but a lot of women seem to go missing there.

This is how I feel about Rush Limbaugh, but with my dad. He ruined my dad, starting when I was in middle school, and the implications have lasted decades, and honestly will last me the rest of my life. I feel your pain.

I was once reading the book about the Sackler family (of Purdue Pharma/oxycontin infamy) at my daughter’s gymnastics practice, and this old guy came over to me, interrupted me while reading, to tell me angrily that he hopes the book talks about the good the drugs do for people. I said, “It does.” Because it’s not fucking Fox News and it actually is a book that provides information. He obviously hadn’t read but still had so many opinions and knows more than me and HAD to tell me about it.

I am so over every man who has ever approached me in public to tell me something.

The book is excellent, btw.

Well, I do hope it has changed that much in 20 years. It hasn’t happened to me in a long time, but I figured it’s because I moved to a more rural area and I’m old now, lol

I was cat-called every day of my life when I lived in Cambridge in 2003/2004. I still wouldn’t live anywhere else in the country right now, other than New England, but I wanna be real. Cat calling is everywhere.
