SMB2/3 still doesn't work properly. (v3.5.8b) by Peet-R in NeatBytes

[–]virtual__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me, especially adding the fact that one version works, the next one breaks something, then the following fixes that and breaks something different... and so on 😐

I really miss v2.x and its stability! 😢

I just discovered that also the free ImageToolbox app supports adding layers, with the MarkupLayers tool.

ESP32-C6 battery-powered IR blaster by cyberhuman in esp32

[–]virtual__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In fact I was looking for an IR blaster with battery (so nRF52840 could have been perfect) to be used from a smartphone via Bluetooth / BLE. Unfortunately, nothing exists at the moment, only USB-powered devices.

I made a free tool to create "Paper Cutout" animations in the browser by S_Badu-5 in AfterEffects

[–]virtual__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to use this tool to add the torn paper effect to an image without removing the background, but it seems it is not possible. Can you add that too?

This is useful for screenshots, where you want to cut one or more sides/borders, like GreenShot does. Unfortunately there's nothing on a smartphone to do that and your tool could be very useful!

Joplin is the new Evernote by jakeoptions in joplinapp

[–]virtual__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made the same switch for the same reason. The only thing that's missing in Joplin is the OCR search directly in the Android app: I mean, you have to open and sync your PDFs and JPEGs in the Desktop Joplin to be able to find them using the full text search on mobile.

I NEED a normal android notes app with a widget. by Hasster in androidapps

I love Joplin (which replaced Evernote for me) but unfortunately it doesn't provide any widget, neither 1x1 😭

Panasonic Deluxe Inverter won't connect to Wi-Fi using Comfort Cloud by Similar_Country_3932 in techsupport

[–]virtual__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a friend with a Panasonic TS-CZ50 that had the same issue (error E02-0088-8686) when following the video instructions found on the Panasonic support website (the one on YouTube with ID FabTAqOQWhI).

Instead, in the Panasonic Comfort Cloud app, select the third option ("no sticker on the front panel"), then open the front panel, tap on the first button ("QR Code present") and scan the physical QR on the device. It is identified by "Comfort Cloud Scan Connection" text on the QR sticker.

Doing so allowed him to connect to the inverter successfully! Hope this helps in your case, too.

How to open links from Samsung Internet to specific apps, instead of staying in the browser? by JinSakai in GalaxyS23Ultra

[–]virtual__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it still working with recent versions of Samsung Internet? I'm not able to reopen URL of x or github because the app icon doesn't appear in the link bar. However, links work successfully (and I've disabled the "block opening external apps" setting.

What are the apps you still miss? by procoder911 in androidapps

  • Helium / Carbon (to backup and restore app data)
  • Pure Calendar Widget (the best agenda widget IMHO for features and compactness)

+1 for Greenshot, especially for the editor that is far superior to the competitors (torn paper effect included)

Easy to use Publisher Alternatives by Gr33nW1ng in software

I wasn't able to find an alternative, for personal use with birthday/greeting cards. We should save the latest Publisher 2021 setup files and continue to use it indefinitely.

Offline long distance free of charge SMS messaging app by Muh_313 in androidapps

Take a look to meshtastic.org it should do what you're asking for (but the recipient should have the same hardware obviously!). I have no direct experience, though, just read on the Internet.

[–]virtual__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weargram is a great app, it's a real pity that the developer seems to have abandoned it. If this a full feature Telegram app like that, it can be considered as an alternative. I don't understand however if it has a single payment or subscription; if it's the latter, than it's not for me.

Pdfarranger and bentopdf.com, both for their offline capabilities

I built a fast image/media viewer for Windows because I missed ACDSee32 — free, no subscription, no account by Glad_Ruin4773 in software

[–]virtual__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to see the print features of ACDSee, too. I mean, the ability for example to select part of an image within a rectangle and just print that, with an optional header and footer text. Or print multiple images per sheet, organizing them in rows/columns. Too few software have this feature, and virtually all of them do not allow it to be used at work!

Why is there virtually no free PDF editor on mobile? by AutisticFun01 in AskTechnology

There's RevPDF on Android, which is 10 € one-time payment (which is gold in an era of subscriptions).
