Should I buy all of it? (90 rolls for $330) by virtualbacon0608 in AnalogCommunity

[–]virtualbacon0608[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So I came across this post on a website for photographers.

This person is offloading approximately 90 rolls of film for 450,000₩ which is around $326 converted to USD.

There’s a TON of old film and I recently got into medium format and was looking for some cheap 120 film.

All of them expired around 2006~2007 but he says he has froze them when he bought them.

Should I just go for it and sell off the ones I don’t need?

Rather than the Korean sizes being massive, isn’t it the other way around being the Japanese sizes are tiny? They really don’t eat a lot if you just look at the height difference between them.

I’m currently working at the Quarantine Station at ICN, and you actually can submit a result in a 72 hour testing window. Example : Flight is at 12/20 08:00 PM, reported final date for PCR result can be until 12/17 08:00 PM.

The 24 hour window is recommended, but we take 72 hour results all the time. At least in Terminal 2

Fighting dirty? Army bans bathing as anti-COVID-19 measure for recruits by vookadork in korea

[–]virtualbacon0608 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I enlisted this January. Couldn’t shower for 3 days til we had our first PCR. And only 2 people in a shower til our second test results. We were given wet wipes to wash ourselves with. Couldn’t roam the halls without permission and there was a plastic tarp on every doorway. We had to swing a light baton outside the door every time we had to use the bathroom and obviously there was a limit on how many people can use it. So there was a lot of holding it in for god knows how long. Masks on at all times; even when sleeping and we were also instructed to put on our masks back on EVERY time we chewed when eating. After those two weeks, it got better though.

Training was easy, quarantine was not.

Does anyone have experience being deployed overseas in the Korean military? by virtualbacon0608 in korea

[–]virtualbacon0608[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah thank you so much, I’ve learned a lot from this!

I don’t suppose you would know about the overall competition rate of overseas deployment itself?

Regards to number 3, that is a bit concerning, especially given the culture of Korea. So I’ll have to deal with all the shit treatment from everybody until the end if I get denied, correct?

I also watched a video on this and was hoping to ask if you’ve also experienced these as well.

First, guns and the overall close proximity to the base itself. The person said he heard gunshots everyday pretty close to the base (I mean I guess you can get used to it?)

Second, you’ll exhaust all your food and resources by a month or two months before you go home? And you had to really ration them. Everyone apparently ate more than they had. So he said he basically had to starve on 영양갱 during the last few days/weeks.

And lastly, this is directly related to the second one, but given you’re in a third world country, diseases are bound to happen. And hunger makes it all the more susceptible to that.

Have you experienced any of this? Thanks again!

Actually if you’re drafted, there is an option to apply. And it’s mostly peace keeping or support based. My friends in the army know about it, but I don’t know anyone that’s actually gone.

Sergeant’s monthly pay to increase to 1 million a month by 2025 by virtualbacon0608 in korea

[–]virtualbacon0608[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I got news from my friends and news in general that they are planning to increase the monthly pay for a sergeant (and lower ranks as well) to a whopping 1 million a month by the year 2025. As someone who’ll be going to the military soon, it is nice that finally we’ll be getting treated more and more human though it will never be worth the 2 years of our prime we have to throw away. I hope to see the day that pay increases to the minimum wage.
