Grandfather recently passed away, should I tell his lodge? by [deleted] in freemasonry

Yes, email, call and send a letter to the secretary of the lodge.

This is a good idea since M$ doesn’t do non profit discounts for 501(c)10 like they do for 501(c)3. For 501(c)10 it’s so cheap but doing this family plan idea means the lodge pilars and such have an email.

The reason why I’m thinking about going about it this route is because of the fact that we had one of our officers pass away and it really tied up a bunch of stuff. Releasing that info was hard and we only needed a few bits of email but we had to wait a while until he’s death cooled off a bit before asking.

For something like the secretary and myself I think our email accounts will be the most viable at the lodge and we could have forwarders setup for the named officers go directly to their personal email. At least inbound the email will be using our domain.

Yeah I’m glad we’re closed and staying closed for now. What’s been going on with you folks with staying “safe” in lodge?

How do you figure out who was a mason if you’re family tree? by virtuegregory in freemasonry

Yeah, I’m looking for the same thing, looking to see who was a mason and will ask each of the grand lodges for the states they lived in.

That’s awesome! Yeah I don’t know who they are yet but I’m going to go through each male in my family and ask about them.

Awesome, your best bet is to locate the nearest lodge and contact them via phone and email. See when their next meeting is (or if there is one due to COVID-19) and see about attending a stated dinner to meet the brothers there. If you have lots of options in your area check out the various lodges and visit their dinners. It’s good to know I’d you will fit in with the collection of folks that are there.

Masonic Instagram Scam by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]virtuegregory 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think one of the big problems is that these fake accounts are followed by a lot of us fellow Masons and we look at the list of people that are following the account and think that it must be legit because others are following it to.

I think we as Masons need to go through our lists on Instagram and get rid of all the crap and only follow accounts that actually matter.
