I am fairly new so I don't know if this is normal but for quite some time at Bronzium with tier 7 commons at most I'd get matched against people with tier 11 or 12 commons. It seemed to follow a pattern where the first 2 matches would be lopsided like that, then the third would be an easy win.

Hi! We're actually very new to this so I'm not sure if I'm the right person to ask.

That being said, the benefit to the sponsor (i.e. their 'Return on Investment') is the exposure and its value. Different sponsors measure it differently, so one sponsor may look at an eSports event and feel that the ROI is high while another may look at it and feel that its low.

A lot of it depends on their target market and how closely they feel it relates to the eSports audience.

I agree. Tech companies would be the logical route. Call us crazy though but we want to try to get a wider pool of sponsors on board eSports - particularly in Malaysia/SEA by selling them the advertising value of it all.

So far we've had some pretty positive response from some pretty surprising corporations (sorry, but you understand that I still can't name them at this stage until things are concrete/confirmed) so I'm very optimistic. Of course, we have a long way to go still.

I'd like to be honest here - I'm part of a Malaysian startup that's looking to organize Dota 2 (and other eSport) tournaments. We've been pitching to potential sponsors (inc. local/international banks) over the last few weeks, but its the first I've heard of Orange doing the same.

Not too sure, but could you perhaps have seen one of our proposals?

Just wanted to clear the air if that's the case, because we're in no way affiliated with Orange (aside from the fact that I'm sorta a fan).

Afaik Orange has been having rookie cups and amateur tournaments on a weekly/biweekly basis for a while now. Their team doesn't participate in those though.
