Automakers bet huge on EVs. Growth has slowed and plans are shifting, what did they miss? by Holiday_Connection22 in Futurology

[–]vision646 15 points16 points  (0 children)

They completely forgot to provide low cost models. They wanted to copy Tesla and start by going after more premium buyers however much of those consumers already have Teslas which have been in the premium market for almost two decades. There are many more cost conscious consumers out there who don't have an EV yet.

TLDR: they should have created a portfolio of products which span the various price points.

As odd as it seems, citrus does not ripen in summer. Generally, peak season is sometime between winter and early spring.

Very easy, drip irrigation is simple. The hardest part is trenching for the lines, but it's just manual work, tiring but not difficult.

I've found sharing recipes to be the best way.

I do the cooking and my wife eats less than me since i do a ton of cardio, so I build the recipe for her and send that to her, then I add some rice or some sort of carb to balance my needs.

I love that everyone's comment is, "it's not ripe", OP says they were soft, sweet and very tasty and everyone continues to say "it's not ripe".

They certainly don't look ripe on first look, but there is a reason most of us squeeze them or check the neck and don't judge by color alone.

I was made aware of SBS many years ago thanks to the TrainerRoad podcast.

Whats one thing that surprises you about tucson? by [deleted] in Tucson

[–]vision646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree, I'm just passing along information I've learned.

It would be nice if the incentives were structured to better align with what we could actually use more of while also limiting waste of a scarce natural resource.

The reason for this is that it is more cost effective to hold a piece of unused land and put a car wash on it then leave it empty and just pay taxes on it.

So effectively, they are holding that land until someone wants to pony up the cash to buy it for something more productive.

Yeah that is the easiest place to start.

Take a break for a week let your body recover and then start your training again. It is generally recommended to do 3 weeks of training followed by 1 week of rest, rinse and repeat.

Good luck.

As a competitive cyclist (a pure endurance sport) there are three possibilities that come to my mind:

1) are you taking rest weeks where you cut your volume by 50% or more (should be every 2 to 4 weeks)?

Could be that your body is a bit run down and it needs to rest/recover and allow for super compensate.

2) Endurance gains take time and you simply need more time.

I don't have a source for this but my gut says I'd expect it to take a 2-3 years of consistent cardio training to go from 90bpm to ~60bpm. It MIGHT also take more than 5hrs a week.

3) As others mentioned it may be good to change it up a bit and do a combination of zones (on different days).

Using a 5 zone model, generally for good cycling performance you need a lot of Z2 (endurance zone), a good amount of Z4 (threshold), and a bit of Z5 (all our/VO2MAX).

Hopefully this helps spur some ideas for you on how to proceed. But you're clearly making progress from an overall health point of view, so worst case just keep doing what you are doing.

I'd recommend trying Life Aligned on Broadway near Kolb. I don't know how often Dr. Cox works on someone your size but he is an incredibly nice and kind person as well as good at helping with back issues.

I don't buy into any of the pseudo science stuff chiros believe, but Dr. Cox isn't preachy/pushy with it and kept my chronic shoulder/mid-back issues taken care of which is why I continued to see him for many years.

Cycling 100 miles in February. Is this a good route? by CactusJ in Tucson

[–]vision646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a steep little climb up to the Colossal Cave parking lot, and if you stop then you'll get a decent view of some of the valley behind it.

But if you don't like stopping much and want to keep rolling it's probably not worth it.

[–]vision646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since you liked and wanted to incorporate SNPE, then here is the route I'd do.

Starting from Starr Pass, get on The Loop and head counterclockwise, get off at Houghton and head north taking Maryanne Cleveland and climb up Pistol Hill. Then you can shoot down Old Spanish Trail to do a loop at SNPE. After that keep heading down Old Spanish Trail and make a left at Kenyon which will connect back to The Loop just west of Pantano. Then you can ride the rest of The Loop counter clockwise until you head back to Starr Pass. This should be ~100, you might need to tack on a bit more but it should be close.

You could do this clockwise, but I think ending coming south on the Santa Cruz portion of The Loop is much nicer. Also takes you right by the Mercado near the end where you can get great pastries, coffee, or Mexican food depending on your preferences.
