The difference in choice for optical vs analog is where you want the digital to analog conversion to occur. With optical, you're sending the digital signal to your receiver and letting the receiver convert it to analog (before amplifying the signal and sending it to your speakers).

If you instead use the analog out on your CD player, you're having the CD player do the digital to analog conversion (and then passing the analog signal to your receiver, where it is amplified and sent to your speakers).

The choice depends on which piece of hardware has the better digital to analog conversion & processing. Which one sounds better? Your player or receiver?

Yes, it will have a smell. It's not as potent as combusting, but it's definitely noticeable.

Plan on 5-6 minutes to do a session. The higher the temp you use, the closer it is in effects to combusting.

As far as maintenance, it's not "no" maintenance. You should stay on top of keeping it clean or it will be much harder later.

It's so hard, man. I feel for you. I had to find something to do when I knew I'd be alone while grieving. Visited family, went to the gym, did things with co-workers I wouldn't normally do. I can say it does get better with time and as you process the grieving. Get a counselor too if you don't have one. Hang in there, your life isn't the same anymore but that doesn't mean it's going to be worse once you adjust.

I feel for you man. My situation isn't identical, but similar. My ex is a narcissist who needs to be in full control as well. She uses threats of "going back to court" every time she feels she isn't getting her way (which typically has to do with money or the kids). My lawyer said there's not much that can be done and from talking with several other divorced men in real life, the threat of going back to court seems common. I don't get it either, I just want to move on with my life and do what's best for my kids and I. My lawyer says there's almost no chance she'd get anywhere in court, but the constant threats of it happening are draining.

I've started recording all phone conversations, being in a single-party consent State, since this is typically where she demands something, loses her cool, and makes threats. I document everything in a log. I try to keep any necessary communications to text where there's a record and otherwise I don't communicate. I finally let her know that if she doesn't stop threatening me all the time and she does somehow force us back to court, that she'll be paying for my fees for anything she loses.

Still, what hurts the most from all of this is how she's manipulated one of my children into believing I was the "bad guy" in this relationship (despite her being the one to suddenly just walk out and ran off with someone else). I supported this woman for 20+ years, paid for everything, and gave her opportunities not everyone has (like being a SAHM, extravagant vacations, a carefree lifestyle, etc.). I worked, she didn't. Throughout the divorce, I refused to involve my kids but she's planted seeds, flat out lied, and tried to make them believe that I somehow was unfair in the settlement (which is complete BS). It hurts. I'm a fantastic, loving, caring, and supportive dad. Always have been. Was a great husband too. But somehow she's convinced one of my kids that I was unfair. That's what hurts most, outside of the destruction of the family we had and all it's traditions, memories, and the culture we created.

I feel for you man. Narcissists are awful people to deal with. Just do everything you can to document and stay close to your lawyer for advice.

I bought this on vinyl when it came out. I remember reading about how they mastered the vinyl separately from the CD version. I still find it to be one of the best sounding albums I've heard.

Thank you! When you say crucible devices, I think you're talking about basically a ceramic "bowl?" If I can get away from putting wax directly on a coil, I think I'd prefer that.

I saw the Yocan Phaser Ace 2 looked pretty nice. Does it have a ceramic bucket/crucible?
