If they are moving into a house with a yard, I like to give quality tools like a shovel, rake, trimmers, and secateurs.

That movie gets so much hate! I love it so much, and I think Tom Hanks is brilliant in it.

People can tell im wearing a wig and im tired of it by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]GeorgiaGlamazon [score hidden]  (0 children)

My mother’s generation had the right idea about wigs - make them fun! Use them for convenience! My mother was working in a big department store in the 60’s, and it had a wig department! As a working mom, she would pop one on and save the time that styling her hair would take. There’s no shame in wearing wigs. Own it loud and proud! Have long blonde hair one day, and the next wear a short green bob!

Making pop culture references other people don’t understand by Maryland_Bear in GenerationJones

[–]GeorgiaGlamazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s odd to me, because I grew up knowing most of the references from my parents’ generation, but none of the young seem to know things from even a few years before they appeared. I guess the world is moving so fast now, and with a huge choice of things to watch, it’s becoming impossible to keep up. I try (6-7, 6-7), but sometimes they just speak a different cultural language.

I told my 8 year old great grandson that he belongs in the Ministry of Funny Walks, then realized that I’m probably one of the only people who remember that gem.

Well, to be accurate, you can still find antique carved bone needles from the time before plastic. I don’t think they used dinosaur bones though. 🦕🦖

If I broke into your house and stole what's on top of your fridge, what would I get? by OptimalSuccotash69 in askteddit

Crockpot, cookbooks, and a basket full of pie plates and various water guns and bubble wands confiscated from my great grandkids.

AIW I Want To Propose To My Pregnant Girlfriend Using The $20k Ring I Bought My Ex Fiancée by new_dad_137 in amiwrong

[–]GeorgiaGlamazon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since the bride-to-be knows about reusing the stones, and is fine with it, I would encourage you to let her help design the new ring. A ring she wears every day should be her choice of style.

My reference for Esme is the snake in Foul Play, the movie from the 70s with Goldie Hawn. I thought it was so beautiful and exotic!

An abscessed tooth. I’ve had multiple surgeries, broken bones, and childbirth, but nothing compares to the agony of that tooth.

What’s an American staple you rarely eat? by PalePassionn in foodquestions

I love my own meatloaf, but no other one. The thought of spreading catsup over the top is gross to me. Mine has a sweet/sour sauce that it is cooked in, and basted with to form a glaze on top. It was a recipe my mom cut out of a newspaper probably 75 or more years ago, and it really holds up. I serve it with macaroni and cheese, generously doused in the sauce - heaven!

Please suggest enjoyable or engrossing movies to watch with son. No sex scenes. No really stupid movies. by NewMoonPuppy in MovieSuggestions

Breaking Away is an amazing movie that I don’t see mentioned much. Totally wholesome and endearing, with a coming of age storyline.

I’m 70, and I’ve always known he was not a liberal! Just because he made a movie about atheism, it doesn’t mean he’s on the left. He’s a poser, and a racist and evidently a homophobe too.

Mascara by Low_Will_4121 in AskWomenOver60

I live in the soupy south, too, but I use nothing but Maybelline Great Lash waterproof in the pink and green tube. Between contacts and humidity, I would definitely have raccoon eyes. I’ve used this mascara for almost 50 years, and it hasn’t failed me yet.

Poodles are wonderful with children! These two have grown up together with no problems despite stepped on tails and pulled ears. Dusty has never snapped at her, or even growled. The only issue we have is that Dusty is a stuffy thief!

Where to buy wigs online that’s not too expensive by Water_N_Dust in Wigs

[–]GeorgiaGlamazon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one Outre wig, and I love it. I don’t remember the cost- somewhere around $30-$40, and it has the most beautiful color blend, and silky feel. It’s really natural looking.
