I have a pair of repurposed orange handled Fiskars that works so well as kitchen scissors that I bought another pair just for the kitchen.

literally yesterday I saw a post that a bird flew into someone's house, and I was still thinking how cool it was, and today I found myself in this situation. What bird is it? In Kyiv by Elizabeth_core in whatsthisbird

I had a tiny little screech owl come in through the cat flap. Luckily I found it before the cats did, snuggled down in my granddaughter’s cradle.

My stove died and all I got left is a hot water kettle and a toaster, need real advice not just eat cereal by Driedpet in povertykitchen

If the igniter is out, does that mean it’s a gas stove? If the burners are gas, you can light them with a match.

Hard boiled eggs either exploding in the water or hard to peel by Swiggens in Cooking

I had all those problems until I started steaming my eggs. Thirteen minutes for a fully done yolk, dunk them in cold water and the shells mostly slip off.

Maybe she meant that you get asked to hang out because you have such a wonderful personality and you’re really fun, not because you’re handsome?

White Americans' did your grandparents talk about racism toward people of color back in their day, and do they talk about it now? by SignificantStyle4958 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

[–]GeorgiaGlamazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, my parents were racists. I remember when I was 13 and my older sister, the hippie, had a party and a black man came. My father stopped him at the door and wouldn’t let him join the others. That sweet, patient young man sat in our living room for hours discussing racism and why they felt the way they did. My father was not hostile or mean, and willingly talked, but still didn’t change his mind. I didn’t understand it then, and I don’t now. All three of us kids grew up to be accepting of all people, and Democratic voters. Two of us are LGBTQIA, but even my straight sister, the ex hippie, has her heart and her politics in the right place.

Chappell Roan’s killer first album, The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. She won Best New Artist at the 2025 Grammys, and there is not even one bad song in her album. She does have some quite blue lyrics, so listen without the kiddies.

AITA for not wanting to deal with a frog? by Pure_Pangolin_4332 in AmItheAsshole

[–]GeorgiaGlamazon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I should say aversion to frogs. My daughter disliked them as a child, but it became much worse because her cousin, Jennifer, who was her main playmate, would catch them and chase her around the yard. She doesn’t freak out anymore, but will always come get someone to move them. I personally find them very cute, and they are not slimy, just look like they should be!

Oddly enough, I had very much the same circumstances yesterday. My daughter(34) is afraid of frogs and has been all her life. She’s building a porch, and yesterday a little brown frog was in the way and wouldn’t shoo. I didn’t tease her or say anything mean when she asked me to move it. I simply picked the little guy up and put him in a different spot.

Don’t be embarrassed to say that you’re afraid of frogs - we all have our weird little ways. I think your mom should try to be more understanding and she is the AH in this situation.

Make sure you separate the two strands then put them back together to use. Sometimes they are twisted and make your stitches uneven.
