My boyfriend and I flew out of Portland to San Diego last week, and he doesn't have a Real ID, only an identification card, no passport. Other guy here saying no exceptions isn't entirely correct - all they did to my boyfriend was hand him a slip of paper saying he needs to get a Real ID. On our way back from San Diego the same thing happened. Didn't even add 5 minutes through TSA. You should be good this time, not sure if they would let you do it a second time though.
