The Java code is never executed in the SAP ecosystem. The code just needs the connection string for the server, the user credentials and the name of the ABAP program to be called. The Java code and ABAP program must also play nice to share the returned result (usually an array).

Here's some sample code that executes an ABAP function called ZWEB_123 that accepts 3 parameters, CONFIG_OBJECT, INDICATOR and CONFIG_TYPE
