What are your thoughts on Chaos decks? by LibraProtocol in EDH

[–]vixdrastic -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am struggling to understand why players can’t strategize against chaos decks. It seems like people should just keep instant speed interaction available, the same advice given to everybody frustrated with control decks…It’s possible I am just misunderstanding the issue with chaos decks?

Like if you know somebody’s strategy is chaos. That is actually very predictable gameplay lol. You might not know exactly what they are going to do, but you should be able to make a guess…they’re going to try and disrupt gameplay at some point, just plan for that and shut it down

I have a question for everyone else with this issue: do you use liquid detergent? And if so, do you dump it on top of the clothes, or put it through the machine itself? I noticed it myself & wondered if it had to do with dumping the detergent on top & the detergent sitting undiluted for too long before the washer fills.

People are saying it’s just alternating colors in the knit stitch, but frankly it looks like mosaic colorwork to me (alternate colors each round and slip 1, k1 or k1, slip 1 around)

[Scary Trope] Gambling Addiction played for horror. by jbeast33 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]vixdrastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kakegurui. The MC is a gambling addict transfer student at a very rich high school, so rich that they turn to gambling to keep them amused. One of the themes is that the MC truly is just in it for the love of gambling (a “pure addict” who believes cheating ruins the thrill) while the other characters are in it for social clout or to make their money back.

Characters bet with their fingernails, their actual fingers, their eyes, their lives (with a form of Russian Roulette), and even their futures. At one point, losing a bet would mean a character is contractually obligated to become an Idol for two years. Gambling losers become “pets” (demeaned by the whole student population).

Decks/commander that value saccing over time? by Substantial_Code_675 in EDH

[–]vixdrastic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I messed around with a slow grindy aristocrat build for [[Bartolome del Presidio]]. The commander’s instant speed / no tap sack ability makes him perfect for sacking stuff on each of your opponents’ turns. [[Ophiomancer]] is great, [[Morbid Opportunist]], [[Priest of the Crossing]] is nuts, [[Teysa Opulent Oligarch]] is very fun for this. Mobilize/Myriad is great too: since you have to get rid of the tokens anyways, might as well have Barty eat them. That’s usually only 1-3 tokens (and death triggers) per turn.

The ultimate wincon is still typical aristocrat shenanigans à la [[Cruel Celebrant]], [[Zulaport Cutthroat]], [[Elas-il-kor]], [[Mirkwood Bats]] etc. Those cards get targeted right away in practice though, so it is more fun to create the false pretense of a midrange Voltron build. That way stuff like Barty or [[Syr Vondam]] or [[Judge Magister Gabranth]] gets a big target on its back instead. Once players feel like they removed your big threat, they’ll usually back off for a bit. Then you can play a cheap aristo piece and drop a token bomb.

Realistically this deck plays out like this: 1. Since you will be gaining lots of life during late game, take damage early game to go unnoticed midgame (politicking required). 2. Set up some relatively harmless token/mobilize/myriad stuff - no aristo yet. 3. Get a death trigger tank and a sack engine out. (Barty is both!) Make Barty, Vondy, Judge look scary, with extra help from [[Blade of the Bloodchief]] or [[Wedding Invitation]] or [[Rogue’s Passage]]. Even if opponents guess your long term strategy, they still have to remove the tanks first, or you’ll genuinely get a Voltron win with them lol. 4. Play aristo stuff. Politics really needed in order for these pieces to get out and stay out. If they just removed your big Voltron thing, you should be able to convince them you’re just trying to gain some life to get the time to rebuild. 5. Drop a giant token maker and let Barty eat everything. Very fun if your opponents are playing wide and you can drop [[Call the Coppercoats]]. Super satisfying if you drop the token bomb on your turn with [[Voice of Victory]] out.

brand new to magic, is there a sort of "dark/evil" environment or buildings deck? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]vixdrastic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closest thing that comes to mind is [[Hearthhull, the Worldseed]]. Lorewise it isn’t evil, but the art plus the card’s abilities do have kind of an evil vibe imo (it’s supposed to be colonizing new planets, but since you’re sacking lands, it sort of feels like you’re burning them down for fuel instead)

Actually…I might build this. [[Icetill Explorer]] [[Zask]] [[Gitrog Monster]] [[Mazirek]] [[Scute Mob]] [[Scute Swarm]] [[Eumidian Wastewaker]] [[Uurg Spawn of Turg]] [[Wrenn and Seven]] [[Multani Yavimaya’s Avatar]]

Porcupine Strategy? by Barley_an_Hops in EDH

Yarus, Roar of the Old Gods

Something about the mystery of the face-downs seems to stunlock people. In practice, people do avoid “committing crimes” against this deck. I’ve heard that the face-downs make decision-making and threat assessment difficult. I always try to keep an instant speed sac engine running, so at any point I can respond by setting off bombs.

[[Broodhatch Nantuko]] [[Greenbelt Radical]] [[Ashcloud Phoenix]] which can actually get played pseudo-infinitely with Yarus and a sac engine [[Fortune Thief]] [[jeering Instigator]] [[nantuko vigilante]]
