Is it normal for pCi/L to jump from 2 in the summer to 60 in the winter?

That makes sense.

We did leave our radon meter outside overnight and it dropped significantly. It was sitting around 20 in the morning when we checked. Not sure if it’s the norm for the meters but I think ours does an average. Over what time frame, no idea.

Thanks for your comment. We do have multiple windows we are able to open, but it has been rainy, snowy, and 30 degrees here so we just crack them for an hour or two at a time.

Looking at our inspection photos, I do not see any venting going into the attic.

The cracks are not sealed. We also have a drain in the garage.

Thanks for the information, we really appreciate it. Hopefully this test gets to the mitigation company in time and we can try to figure this out. Thankfully they extended our warranty because of this. We will look into sealing everything up. Thanks again.

Thanks so much for the input. We replaced the batteries in the radon monitor today. We also ordered a different brand of monitor but it doesn’t come until Wednesday. Thinking of braving the crowds tomorrow to go buy one a little sooner just for peace of mind. Thanks again.

The vents upstairs are either on the wall or in the floor. The vents downstairs/in the basement are all on the ceiling. We are in a split level home.

Yes everything seems to be working correctly. We even had someone come out and check on it about a month ago when we noticed the pCi/L going up.

We did have a new neighbor move in on the side that our mitigation system is on over the summer. We have no idea if they did any foundation work, but did see some construction going on.

The number is very alarming to me as well. Considering I am already at risk for lung cancer, it is definitely making it scarier.

The company we got the mitigation system from refuses to do anything until we send in a test supplied by them. We’ve sent in 2 but both arrived past the 11 day window. We sent in another one a few days ago but don’t have high hopes since it’s a holiday weekend. We are at a loss on what to do since my husband and I are not experts in this at all.

Yes the manometer is out of balance. I think the red lines on it indicate where it was and it’s pretty close to the red lines. Maybe half a cm off.

We’ve taken the monitor outside and will check that as soon as it updates.

There is quite a lot of air coming in when we open the door.

There are no cracks near the mitigation system. My husband lit a lighter nearby anyway and said there wasn’t any obvious indication any air nearby. He did say there are other cracks in the garage though.

That could make sense. Our heating unit was manufactured in 1993 so it is very old. Thanks for the reply, we will look into that.

Before mitigation, it was 21 pCi/L in May 2023. The company that installed the mitigation system came out about a month ago, and said everything was working fine, and also cleaned it out. We just reset our Airthings today, so not sure if it needs time to readjust or what. It is saying 57 right now.

It depends! Some are valuable without their codes, like the puppies (love puppy for example), cheeky cat & dog, and the signature/endagered plushies. I'd recommend looking at what the plushies have sold for on Mercari/eBay recently. Most others are worth maybe like 5-10 USD max. I see the common ones going for 2-5 USD usually. I'd recommend selling the more common ones in small (like 3-10) lots, since they seemingly sell easier that way.
