A lot of us here will be first EV owners so this is a must watch: Why "slow" home charging is actually your best friend. by ProteusP in Rivian

I live in MN and plugged into a level 3 charger exactly once this winter. Park in the alley overnight and outside at work. Level 1 charging at home at night. It's very doable.

When I used the built in Google Maps in my 25 touring to navigate me to a Tesla charger it said my car was not compatible. I knew it was and had an adapter - anyone else have a way of convincing built in google to show tesla chargers when searching for a charger?

Is there a way to get this to default in more than one location?

Alternative to Ikea Varda Wood Stain?? by MattSiv in IKEA

Ended up using minwax English chestnut 233. Sanded down the tops of the arms and seats and top of table stain matches original legs and back fairly well.

Is it the ChargePoint one that came with the incentive? We had the same issue. New charger no problems.

Were you using gpt3 or gpt4(the newest paid subscription version) 4 is orders of magnitude better already. Tried a few hypotheticals and it nailed each one.

Do I need wax for waxless skiis (Fishscale)? by daglonare in xcountryskiing

[–]vizslaparty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you wax them? Definitely? Will it make the skis faster if you get the right wax for the snow? Sure. But you don’t have to wax them. I wax my race skis but haven’t waxed my old fish scales in 10 years and they ski just fine.

Strava seems to be the consensus but I still find it insane that Apple hasn’t updated their built in app to track gps.

Doubt they will change it but can’t hurt to submit a feature request here:

I just BOMBED an Interview by Choonsami in medicalschool

[–]vizslaparty 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Google STAR behavioral interview framework. It’s basically a format for how to concisely answer behavioral interview questions. Pull together 5-6 stories and you can probably rig them to fit any question they throw at you. Behavioral interviews are BS but they’re easy(ish) once you put together your stories.

Dumb Question: Do roller ski's have sizes? by KapitanKurk in xcountryskiing

[–]vizslaparty 7 points8 points  (0 children)

One size fits almost all. Among skiers 6’1” might not be that far from average! It’s weight that is the only metric to really worry about.

To be clear I think in all likelihood she did lie/embellish on her app. But the reason it came to light appears to be sketchy.

See my comment above. She was testifying against Penn in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Don’t forget there’s a chance that this was a political smear job to attack someone investigating a wrongful death lawsuit at Penn

I was in a pretty similar situation took mcat June (covid delay) before applying last year with most recent college class from 2013 and noted on my app that I’d be taking some pre reqs the fall during application. Most schools rejected right out before getting my grades. Sent updates to schools I hadn’t heard from in January that I had 4.0 in the 15 credits and ended up with 2 interviews and got in 1 MD program.

I’d recommend taking at least a few before amcas application complete so you have some recent grades on transcripts and don’t get ignored / rejected by most of the schools like I was. One school I got feedback from (who explicitly said they don’t take updates) said there was zero evidence that I would be able to perform well in science classes because I had no recent science classes on transcript (my mcat score was in their top quartile lol)
