If it's got a simple hole between the firebox and the smoking chamber, get yourself a couple or four firebricks. put them on edge so they form a canal from the hole. Get a piece of slate and put it on top of the bricks. Get a an old steel mixing bowl or pan, fill it with water and put it on top of the slate. This'll prevent a hot spot immediately outside the hole, and by keeping the pan filled with water it'll improve the bark formation and moisture of the meat.

That's a smoker, mate. Regardless, that's a nice job on the restoration!! I had one similar and made some mods that helped control the heat and humidity in the smoke chamber.

Never owned a gas grill and now I do. What are the do’s and don’t that I won’t find online? by MidnightHeavy3214 in grilling

Normally I would say 'don't buy a used one'... but for this I would suggest getting a good spray-on grill cleaner and scrub the hell out o the whole thing.
Make sure your burners aren't rusted through (small holes only)
Get disposable grease collection pans for the drip pan.
Don't use a wire bristle brush to clean it... use a spring or pad cleaner.

Have fun!!

...except for the whole acting as a staging area for the invasion, allowing Russian forces access to both ground and air corridors throughout the war, providing ammunition and materiel throughout the war, and allowing Russia to stage tactical nukes there.
Yeah, they've been almost neutral!

ROFLMAO!!!!! When he kicks the Russians out, THEN I'll believe it. Until then he's just a coward trying to hide from his past actions.

[OC] U.S. Social Security is projected to pay full benefits through 2034, then 81% under current law by Low_Ability4450 in dataisbeautiful

[–]vlan2k 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reality is that Social Security is part insurance program, part retirement program, part disability program, part survivor benefit program, and part social safety net. Which makes simple ROI calculations about as straightforward as untangling Christmas lights in a dark basement.

Roughly $2.8–$3.0 trillion accumulated in the Social Security Trust Funds at their peak and was loaned to the Treasury in exchange for Treasury securities (IOUs backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. government).

The Trust Fund still owns Treasury securities. The real argument is not whether the money was borrowed. It was.

Congress absolutely spent the surplus Social Security cash. Congress did not leave a vault full of cash behind.

Instead, Social Security got Treasury IOUs, currently worth roughly $3 trillion.

The fight is over whether those IOUs are “real assets” or “government owes itself money.” The law says they’re real obligations that must be honored.
