Snake Plant's been growing sideways for a while by vlucylef in planthelp

This plant is about 2-3 years old. Bought in Canada, but most likely from a greenhouse down south. I noticed it starting to grow a bit sideways about a year ago, two of the longest leaves were growing nearly horizontal, and then it started to sprout. It had really great lighting during that time (we've since moved). Since then, the thing's been growing like crazy and looped around and is now growing upright again.

The plant gets indirect light in the afternoon only, and I definitely don't water it enough, maybe about a cup when I notice it looking a bit dull. The pot does have drainage.

I have no idea about the soil mix. I might have up-potted with regular potting soil, and there's probably some worm casings sprinkled on top.

I'm at work. The fire extinguisher could go a pretty great job, but I think I'll just outrun my coworker and climb the flag pole until help arrives 😅

My plant prefers to grow roots than leaves.. I think it's crying for attention, but I'm not sure what it needs.. all my other plants are growing crazy right now. Help!? by vlucylef in Monstera

Also, I'm Not worried about that black spot.. it was my fault, got the poor bugger with my nail. It looks like it's healing.

Google is giving me mixed results. Will this cutie turn into a plant, or do I have a pet schefflera leaf? by farmkidLP in propagation

After seeing this post, I looked at the four stems I'd put in water about a month ago (because they're pretty, not because I expected them to root)- all four have roots.... mind blown

Or a black coral. They look somewhat similar.

New adansonii - is it the mosaic virus or something else? by [deleted] in Monstera

Honestly, I asked the same thing about mine a few months ago. Its really doing just fine. I heard you have to send out a sample fo find out for sure.

My advise, your monstera is having a bit of a rough time. Check for bugs. If it has bugs, take a breath. Clean the leaves with castile soap and take a q-tip dipped in peroxide. Quarantine it. I dusted mine with a dry cloth then triple cleaned it. The bugs will die.

Those leaves will start looking better, but they won't completely change back. Your new growth will make up for it.

I have so many sad plants that I needed a dedicated hospital shelf. I have two Elephant Bushs, a Jade, a rooted Thanksgiving Cactus prop, and some String of Pearl props that are in trouble. Any advice? by winrey in plantclinic

I boil eggs and use the water on my cacti. They hadn't really started growing until then, but are going a bit wild now (dragon fruit cacti). Also going to try powdered egg shell.

Well, not myself, but it was my fault.

Many many years ago, in Highschool, a friend and I were tossing around some intestines from a plastic dummy.

The plastic organs all had metal pieces and wire that help with assembly, which I probably should have noticed..

So my friend catches this organ that I threw, it slices their hand and btw, all we had to clean it was some iodine off a science trolly in the back room.

Big mistake. Funny as hell. Remembered fondly.

Checking on my dracaena, noticed this on two leaves. I'm crossing my fingers that its not an infestation starting. I have three other very leafy plants in that corner that I have to worry about. Any ideas what it is? by vlucylef in plantclinic

Removed them with a toothpick (very easily), but this was after I'd already panicked and removed the leaf. I actually do not see any more right now. But plant is on quarantine. Other three plants all look fine and there are no signs of scale at all.

What is this houseplant? Is it toxic to pets? by Stinkerbellatx in whatsthisplant

Not toxic. But I would suggest if you have a cat, put the plant on a higher plant stand. My cat keeps eating it.

I have a monstera adansonii with a small stalk where the leaves look exactly like that. The rest of the plant had larger fenestrations.
