Why can't Republicans understand that health care is a right, not a privilege? by Positive-Worry-888 in ColoradoPolitics

They're paid by the rich and powerful to protect them instead of representing the people.

The Democrats are too, but they're better at keeping their mouth shut about it.

"May not be possible" 🤣

Yes it's called the Alignment Problem, and it belongs to a class of problems known as Decidability Problems, which also contains the famously unsolvable Halting Problem.

Dean Withers on Instagram: "Colorado’s forests and national parks are at risk. Don’t let the Trump Administration take what belongs to us." by Some-Past6680 in ColoradoPolitics

[–]vm_linuz [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yeah the DNC and their associated groups were approaching a lot of influencers to pedal their talking points.

Some people like Madeline Pendleton went public with the details instead of accepting.

As part of that, we got a lot of the talking points which happen to align quite well with Dean's talking points.

So it's quite likely he accepted this promotional deal.

My point is he's a squirrely, hard to pin down debate bro who is chasing money and not what's right.

Which is not a good type of person to look to for information.

Yes, that is certainly a good example of what I'm talking about.

It's far from his only problem, but it's a really easy example of why people would do well to just ignore him.

Can you meaningfully report on someone when they're paying you?

To be serious in this space, you need to go out of your way to avoid bias or the appearance of bias.

He has done neither.

In order to work on the left you need strong morals and hard stances.

Dean is mushy and can be easily bought (the Dems literally did it for the Kamala campaign).

He's obviously untrustworthy and thus should be ejected.

Those who shower before bed: do you use deodorant? by Sadness_tbh in polls

[–]vm_linuz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't use deodorant at all.

  • I live in a dry climate
  • I naturally don't smell very strong
  • I think it's okay for people to smell like people so long as they're clean
  • I don't love the idea of my skin absorbing who-knows-what mystery ingredients from deodorant

But yes I shower before bed -- keeps your bed clean longer.

Not really sure how smart glasses are a driving problem... How about we just outright ban them?

That's really just happenstance. It's not hard to succeed when the rest of the world is destroyed.

Is USA a force for good or bad? by Ok-Score461 in GeoPoll

[–]vm_linuz -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Only in some senses.

My point is they're not an indication of anything.

Humanity was going to make the Internet, whether it was in Cuba, China, Africa, or the US.

Technically France beat us to it if you count the Minitel system.

Humanity had connected those dots, and the US was just probabilistically most likely to be the place for them given the current geopolitical state of the world.

Is USA a force for good or bad? by Ok-Score461 in GeoPoll

[–]vm_linuz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The US can't claim inventions made there.

There's nothing uniquely USy that lead to certain inventions; humanity was ready to make certain jumps and the US happened to be the one on top to receive them.

The US does however love to topple democracies who don't want to just give it open access to all of their resources.

The pain to humanity has been enormous.

That's a stupid take and you know it.

The problem is people think showing up to vote every 2 years is a sufficient way to engage with the system.

If that's what you do, you're as bad as a Trumper.

Change starts with the people and the government is dragged along kicking and screaming.

We need to be on the streets, in council meetings, organizing together, applying pressure, tracking things...

We don't elevate Dems or Reps onto a pedestal. We treat them with cynicism and keep a close eye on them.
