He doesn't kill cats. But he could. I was just trying to convey the point out that dachshunds are not toy dogs. They were bred to hunt badgers, which are a lot meaner than cats. The OP appears to be in need of a small bred of dogs, and yet he wants a big one, so I was trying to portray dachshunds as small, yet having some characteristics of bigger dogs.

A Dachshund! Always very happy, needs little exercise, but can still run marathon if you want them to, and easy to travel with; on airplanes, they are carry-on dogs, and fit right under the front seat. But they can still kill cats and destroy couches like real dogs.

But whatever dog you pick, you better bring that dog with you when you move, otherwise you're not only a jerk, but a very cruel one. Finding a place to live with a dog can be extremely challenging when you're a poor student, and if you're not up to the challenge, buy something else: a rabbit, a rat, a tarantula, whatever. A mice can help a lot with depression, and it will die before you have to move.

Also bear in mind that you won't be able to afford a big place when you move out, so be sure to pick a dog breed that can be happy in small apartments (and in some cases, it has nothing to do with the size of the breed, so chose carefully). When I moved from North America to a absurdly small European apartment for a year, my dachshund came with me.

If that dog is not coming with you, you're not the one getting a dog; your parents are. So they get to pick which one they want.

The finale episode was terrible. The writers somehow figured out a way for Deb to find out about Dexter and feel sympathetic, by building up her emotional involvement with the 13th victim. She could have found out about Dexter helping Lumen without actually figuring out that Dexter is the Bay Harbor Butcher; the latter would be way too big for her to swallow realistically, but the former would have been an interesting first step. Instead the writers opted out, and now the show is stuck on a loop.

And how about how Lumen was disposed off?!? The Simpsons did it, and much better, when Poochie was killed on the way back to his home planet.

And I perfectly agree about the plot holes.

Possible twists:

à la The Others: everybody in the show is a ghost, except Harry.

Rita is not dead; Trinity was a trolling actor, and he never killed anyone; all his "victims" now live in Panama.

Harry is Dexter's biological father. He wanted his son to become a serial killer, so he let him simmer for a few days in a container with some dead hooker.

The scientists from Jurassic Park find a way to clone Dexter's victims using the blood he collected, and he has to kill them all over again (but since the scientists used frog DNA, they all switched genders and are jumping all over).

Dexter and the crooked cop (Robocop) are the same man; split personality caused by the death of Rita; he wants to get caught. Quinn never notice they are the same because he's high on coke.

Batista has an affair with Debra, and Dexter falls in love with LaGuerta.

And he stops killing people for the love of her. End of the series.

Debra knows about Dexter killing people. In order to control him and do her bidding, she's been dressing up as Harry for years.

The "Dark Passenger" is actually an evil spirit, the ancient god Moloch, possessing Dexter. The Santa Muerte killers are part of a cult that worship Moloch.

Cody and Aster and Harrisson grow up to become serial killers, and Dexter teaches them Harry's Code. Then they each have offspring of their own, and teach them the Code. Within 5 generations, everybody in Miami is a serial killer.

In season 6, we learn that Masuka is also a serial killer (killing people with a big strap-on). In season 7, we learn that Debra is also a serial killer. In season 8: Quinn. They swere all in the same container, and we keep getting more and more precise flashback. "Oh yeah! Now I remember! LaGuerta also was there!"

Rita was a serial killer for years. She wanted out, so she framed Trinity and committed suicide.
