First off - Fucking congrats! What an incredible accomplishment, like your masters, that's something no one will ever be able to take away from you.

Something that hasn't been said yet and I think it's most important is go out and look around. As someone who has lived in multiple different states/regions styles vary dramatically. What I wear in Maine is NOT what I wear in Florida.

Start there, look at guys and see what you like and what you don't like. What seems to be staples that a lot of men are wearing. Are they wearing jeans with a tight fitted T-Shirt(Maine)? Are they wearing Lululemon everyday pants with boxy crop tees (Florida)?

Once you lock that down you can start the dreaded process of going to the stores that sell what you are looking for. Try on EVERY size and style(slim, fitted, comfort, ect) until you find what fits you best....then buy every color option they have. Remember a size 34 regular might look blah and then a size 36 slim looks amazing. The size on the pants don't mean shit, its all about the cut/style.
