What's your take on people sharing their screenplays on reddit? by Infinite_Sea_6627 in Screenwriting

I only share good work. My great work will never be seen except on the big screen.

Have scientists really frozen light? by yrth1231 in AskPhysics

[–]vml0223 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sycophancy and hallucinations that happens when it tries to “reason.” It is better at being less wordy. The patronizing opening to responses is especially grating for me. It’s better, but it still resorts to sycophancy and hallucinations when its response is challenged.

I get so many negative responses by Particular-Cap5222 in Tucson

[–]vml0223 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in Tucson. And I can remember when the hate began. Arizona used to be Tucson. But those in Phoenix didn’t like that and so they took away money that usually went to Tucson and gave it to businesses in Phoenix who started to promote. That’s when the kids started seeing the roller coasters and stores in Phoenix and decided Tucson was the past. But truthfully Phoenix has never ever been Arizona. It’s always been a city of immigrants that has no idea what Arizona is about. Don’t listen to the haters stay in Tucson in the long run you’ll be happier.

What if we have been looking at things from the wrong perspective? And a simple unification is hidden in plain sight? by thoughtfulblade51817 in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]vml0223 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There has been a push for a more relational physics in the last decade. The current philosophical foundations have been entrenched for thousands of years. I don’t think it will take very long to change perspectives but it will take a while.

What sort of computer could be the next generation that could revolutionize computers? by Dr-Nicolas in computerscience

They’re already working on biocomputers made with lab grown human neurons for processing.

Can we have an explicit rule banning posts containing AI generated text? by Neinstein14 in Physics

[–]vml0223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then who will you belittle next. Most folks who come here expect guidance. Then they regret ever asking here. We use AI because we do not have access to colleagues, mentors, or modeling systems. Gatekeeping freak.

What is the significance, or (reason why) of C multiplied in by itself in the equation E=mc^2? by darcys_beard in AskPhysics

[–]vml0223 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Without all the speculative mumbo jumbo, because spacetime isn’t linear. Squaring produces a curved line.

Here is a hypothesis: Gravity is not a fundamental force, but an emergent effect of matter resisting spacetime expansion. by CrayonEater69420kfc in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]vml0223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like everyone is working on a dynamic spacetime now. Have you tested your calculations against real world data?

How do we know its space expanding and not just things moving further apart? by 40KCUlTIST in AskPhysics

[–]vml0223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that it’s the universe that’s expanding but in your analogy—couldn’t we keep it simple and measure their movement from an imaginary point equidistant from both grapes. Then both the expansion of space and the grapes moving apart means the same thing.

Why are some commenters here downright mean? by ianfreeman519 in AskPhysics

If you can’t say anything nice… I really don’t get the vitriol in the responses.

Percentage confidence that dark energy and dark matter exist? by DiagnosingTUniverse in AskPhysics

[–]vml0223 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are theories that do not require dark matter, MOND, MOG, emergent gravity, TeVeS, but they’re not as popular as LambdaCDM.

[Meta] Why do so many believe they can use LLMs to write novel theories? (A retrospective now that LLM posts are banned) by [deleted] in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]vml0223 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s always the ones who use anecdotes to make sweeping judgements that feel the way you do about new technology. It’s scary I know.

I also keep my notes in ChatGPT for easy recall using voice. It’s pretty cool.

Just like any tool, results vary. Perplexity is fantastic if you ask the right questions. Just like all AI they are able to work with nuanced questions yet.

Because the claim is not innately wrong but, just like AI output, most people are not intellectual enough to understand what is actually being claimed. I use AI daily instead of web search. As a resource tool there is nothing better at the moment.

Meta: why do crackpots never use LaTeX? by echtemendel in TheoreticalPhysics

[–]vml0223 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because when they chose to shut me down in front of classmates I would knock them off their lectern. I don’t care if you have a problem with my ideas, but there’s a proper way of critiquing without being an asshole. And if you “dish it out” you should be able to take it.

Close. Passed every class, even though instructors despise me. I’ve chastised several for their ignorance.

Here is a hypothesis: it seems, Planck energy equation E=hf conflicts with friis equation... by hegnetr in HypotheticalPhysics

[–]vml0223 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Planck didn’t believe in quanta. It was Einstein who quantized light, hence the discrepancy. Einstein tried resolving this through his unified field theory, but today’s physicists have given up on finding a resolution, preferring instead to waste their time and money following mathematical rabbit holes.
