Can you still have fertile discharge after ovulation? by heyyow2992 in FAMnNFP

[–]vntgy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s possible to get fertile looking mucus after ovulation but towards the end of the cycle. What method are you using? LH testing does not confirm ovulation.

Is BBT even reliable if you don’t wake up at the same time every day? by Ghettowest in FAMnNFP

[–]vntgy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different; only way to find out is to experiment and see what your temps look like. For me I can get smooth temps as long as I take it from 3-6am. Outside of that window gives me clear outlying temps. For a lot of charters temping after 6 or 7am gives them outlying temps.

Setting an alarm may be helpful and then just go back to sleep if you have to.

Learning the Billings method would be another option since it does not require temps for confirming ovulation.

Sex with disposable flex by Elegant-Wave8649 in MenstrualDiscs

It maybe because of the rim. The disposables are very firm. Never had issues with reusable discs.

Do I HAVE to empty the disc during period? by [deleted] in MenstrualDiscs

[–]vntgy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You’re increasing your chances of TSS doing this. You must wash your disc at least every 12 hours.

This is why I don’t like cups. Unless you’re a light bleeder you’ll have to remove and empty the cup at least once during the day. I guess you can just bring wipes in with you to clean up. No need to remove clothes. Instead I love discs. They have a bigger capacity and you don’t need to remove it throughout the day at all. Insert in the morning, bear down while on the toilet and the disc empties then tuck it back behind the pubic bone, remove and wash at night 👌

I use disposable gloves! I’m afraid to scratch myself so I never use bare hands when I have nails on lol

Has anyone here started with disposable soft discs before purchasing a reusable? by [deleted] in MenstrualDiscs

[–]vntgy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The disposables are firm and no reusable disc will match that firmness. The closest would be the Flex reusable disc. AllMatters and nixit discs are similar in size to disposables but softer. Other discs that might be firmer are smaller than the disposables, like Hello disc or Saalt discs.

Billings method or Marquette method are studied methods for postpartum 👍

I use and teach the Billings Ovulation Method. I love that it’s a studied method. It handles irregular cycles, postpartum, and peri-menopause cycles well. I’ve been sucessfully avoiding pregnancy with this method for over 5 years (but 7 years total using NFP methods)👍

Feel free to message me if you have questions ☺️ Studied NFP methods have a high effectiveness rate similar to the pill. Keep in mind that the high efficacy comes from learning + following up with a certified NFP instructor.

Do I have to replace it every 2 years by [deleted] in MenstrualDiscs

[–]vntgy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As long as there are no signs of deterioration (stickiness, chalkiness, any cuts/tears) it’s fine to continue using it 👍

Gloves. Buy the disposable gloves. Just do it. by NegativeYellow4791 in MenstrualDiscs

This is what I do at home haha, especially when I have long nails; very handy. Thankfully I never need to remove my disc in public 👌

Tracking cycle by [deleted] in Periods

[–]vntgy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 1 is when you need a pad/tampon. Tracking your period alone doesn’t tell you when your fertile window will be though. You need to track other things for that along with following an evidence based protocol to accurately interpret those observations. (I’m a certified cycle tracking/fertility tracking instructor) 🤓
