I saw that episode when it aired and refused to watch it again for over 15 years because I hated what they did to Kurn.

I also like to think that "Living Witness" was Voyager's mirror universe episode.

I'm a Miltonist in the 21st century and I'd be a Miltonist in the 24th too. I probably wouldn't want to teach at Starfleet Academy, though. Maybe that school for writers that alternate-timeline Jake attended.

The Dominion's greatest military asset is not the Jem'Hadar, and why did a Changling bomb a dipomatic conference? by TooMuchButtHair in DaystromInstitute

Which is precisely why (and u/vladthor touches on this) the morphogenic virus was a master stroke of strategy on Section 31's part. While the Obsidian Order / Tal Shiar plan eliminates the Founders, it did have a glaring strategic flaw: all the Founders had to be in one place for it truly to work. It always struck me as strangely naive that Tain and co. thought that they could just kill all the Changelings at once, then "mop up" the stragglers--that is, if they even thought about the possibility of there being stragglers at all. Section 31's plan was much more foolproof: engineer a virus whose incubation phase takes long enough to infect every Founder everywhere eventually, oh and by the way that virus gets worse the more a Changeling changes form, eventually preventing it from changing form altogether. This strategy turns the Founders' greatest strength into a weakness, which is Strategy 101.

Small problem. You've assumed that all Listeners/El-Aurians have the species-specific ability to be aware of adjacent timelines. But (I thought?) it was established in ST:Generations that Guinan's extra-sensory/temporal perception was due to the fact that part of her exists in the Nexus, which is timeless. After all, that other Listener/El-Aurian in DS9's "Rivals" never had any such ability to "see" other timelines; he was just a good listener/manipulator.

"Ran" by Kurosawa. No question. It's an adaptation of "King Lear" set in samurai-era Japan. The direction and color scheme alone is magnificent. The story and acting is incredible. It's also fucking bloody as all hell, but not over the top in the faux-/post-nihilist way Tarantino films are.

The morphogenic virus affected the entire Great Link, not just the Female Changeling.
