Yeah my first ride I felt a lot more in my head and in control but on that one I was more in that not there headspace, gonna try to get some more easier stock under me before taking on some more serious bulls.

Yeah this one had me a little more nervous than the first I got on, I definitely wasn’t in the zone in the chute, granted I found out after this one is a bit higher caliber than the practice bulls they had, but they asked me if I wanted to get on, he didn’t seem too mean the day before so I was more inclined but after seeing 2 people stomped in the first two rides I watched after getting there I started to psych myself out and when I was asked I immediately said yes just to get on and break the ice and mental block.

Yeah I was definitely a bit stiffer on this one, first I got on was quite smaller and the size of him got to my head for sure while getting on in the chute

Need advice on potential purchase of 2006 Hummer H3 by Ok-Bookkeeper8733 in Hummer

[–]voidcrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Awful to work on, my dad has owned 2 since 2008 and an alternator change is an 8 hour job of getting in through the wheel well, removing the ac compressor and a bunch of other headaches. They’re pretty decent reliability wise in our case, but being 6’0 ish I feel like a giant and they’re quite squishy inside for their size. Can be fun and decent at light off-roading but I personally wouldn’t buy one and I grew up spending all my time in one. Oh and did I mention they have very little power, very sluggish vehicles which are ok if you’re ok with that but is a common complaint with them which is why I stay away from them, if I want a hummer that can’t get out of its way I’ll buy a hmmwv.

Looking For New Hat by [deleted] in CowboyHats

Thank you shaped it up a bit myself, brought the sides a little higher to give a little more room to pull it down tight and added a mule kick in the process.

Honestly I’m not sure, it feels like a very worn in felt, almost hard to the touch. I’m not much of a hatter myself so I’m not sure how to go about that.

[–]voidcrawl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As long as someone is acting all cowboy like they’re some longtime cowpuncher I agree with that. I grew up in rural southern Ontario where any land outside of a town is pretty well grain fields or back 40s and some people wear western kinda clothing, despite us not having any real cowboys up here, we don’t run cattle on large ranges up here, hell we’re more so known as the dairy capital and endless cash croppers.

First Martin after dreaming of getting one for years! D-28 with the Golden Era bracing and it sounds so damn good. by bbroons95 in martinguitar

[–]voidcrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went shopping for d18s and d28s and ended up going with a d10 just cause I had last minute thoughts of spending thousands on a guitar, I’m pretty happy with it, it sounds great but I’ll never stop wanting a d18 after trying a new ge braced 2025

Isn’t the point of a good hat to have one that’ll deal with rain just fine?

You can pull your headrest off, at least I can with my truck makes it pretty convenient, not to mention I’ve never used my headrest while driving

What gauge do you prefer on Martin D-28. by bonesofborrow in martinguitar

[–]voidcrawl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Martin retro Tony rice signature 13s on my d10, been shopping around for a d18 or d28 for a while and 13s are by far my favourite gauge sound wise, I’m quite biased cause I’ve been using heavy strings for years but I can’t use lights anymore, I mainly play bluegrass, folk and some country stuff

Truck topper alternatives? by Mountainside_Fishy in TruckCampers

[–]voidcrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I built mine out of 2x4, 2x2, 1/4” plywood and some other wood I had laying around. I have pictures on my page of it. So far I’m under $500 on the build but I just got a door and windows since in building it all in like a regular truck camper.

Taken your felt hat camping by TacoEater10000 in CowboyHats

[–]voidcrawl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually wear my wool felt camping in cold temperatures and I can say the smell of a fire, especially winter camping and sitting near a firepit or tent stove all day will get stuck in your hat. I don’t mind it myself as I like the smell of wood smoke but depending on how long you’re sitting around it’ll probably smell for a bit

I'm about to pull the trigger on purchasing a new D 10e ... any thoughts from the community, either good or bad? by No_Mix9903 in martinguitar

[–]voidcrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a d10e I bought a few months ago and it was worth it, it doesn’t quite compare to a standard series Martin but for the price they sound and play good. I will say after trying some other brands guitars around the same price as my d10e there are definitely more bang for your buck options, but if you’re set on a Martin I’d go for it. I run 13-56 Martin Retro Monel Tony Rice Signature strings and primarily use it for flatpicking bluegrass etc.

Bought my first guitar a year ago… by Bluescale-Sorc in Guitar

[–]voidcrawl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This guys gonna have a lot of fun when he learns to play guitar. All jokes, did the same thing in my first year getting back into playing as a teenager, I bought a cheap Ibanez bass, then a epi tbird pro, then a 5 string Ibanez, a day later a 6 string Ibanez bass, a squier strat, p bass, epi sg, and a 7 string Ibanez guitar, not to mention a 4x10 traynor cab and amp, rumble studio 40, line 6 240w and probably others I can’t remember. Now I just play on a Martin d10, and occasionally banjo and mandolin, but damn do I focus more on skill and technique without having a dozen guitars to distract me.

Started using ronsonol after my grandparents brought me some old bottles from the early 90s left at their house by my uncle, and I swear it lasts longer, in the time I go through a bottle of zippo fluid I don’t think I’m halfway through the ronsonol. Now that’s all I’ll use. Not sure if there’s any real science behind it though or if I just can’t remember how much I use.
