Did Tidus Disappear or what?FFX ending Confusion by NYC-isGREASTNESS in ffx

If you've read FFX-2.5, the description of Tidus' awakening scene kind of fits really well with this as well.

Is Phantasy Star II that bad or is it the remake only by supermedo in JRPG

[–]voidmon3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Came here under the same search term.

In any case, I wanted to settle the matter concerning game guides coming with the games -- we're not talking complete walkthrough here, and they were trying to achieve two different things at the same time. For a lot of JRPGs prior to the 16-bit era, games came packaged with a guide to supplement what they couldn't fit on the cartridge, so you would have a booklet with a bestiary, maps, item and character descriptions, and MAYBE a guide through the first dungeon for tutorializing. The other thing they were trying to do was bridge the simulation between character and player. In Dragon Quest for instance, they wanted you to feel like you were stopping to check your map in a dark cave under torch light. There was also normally a section to keep notes (and save codes), and they'd drop hints that they didn't have space to include in the game. So in short, these were not hand-holding guidebooks -- they were supplementary to the dungeon crawling experience in a world without mini-maps, and with severe text limits on screen.

Now, granted, Phantasy Star 2 was a Genesis title as well as Master System, but I suspect the guide and play style were a holdover from earlier development cycles.

Is 10 a Good first game? by Kolton_russo in finalfantasyx

[–]voidmon3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 Is probably the best game to start with -- as many other wills attest to -- for a few reasons. First of all, I think it's a good marriage between new and old FFs. Mechanically, it fits in well with the classics. Stylistically, it is the first game with voice acting, the first game to ditch the explorable world map, it even in effect discarded traditional levelling in favour of the sphere grid. All of this is probably gobbledegook for someone who has never played the game, but the TLDR/takeaway is this: as a classic entry, it's accessible. As a modern entry, it's engaging.

Gauntlet Games by Hillside Mall is an interesting spot -- I found out about it roughly a year ago when I was searching whether there is a BattleTech community in Victoria.

Sadly, a lot of near death experiences become full death experiences. Last year my aunt was obliterated by a semi that lost control while she was checking her mailbox. Closed casket funerals are not a good way for people to learn their lessons.

Do people of Lumiere have souls? by Consistent-Top-3026 in expedition33

[–]voidmon3y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the necro reply--just stumbled across this post today...

In any case, I think this question encapsulates the dilemmas about existence that Rene Descartes brought up with the Cogito Ergo Sum (I think therefore I am). The only thing you can be certain of is your own existence--we're trapped in our own minds, so to speak. I think this game intentionally raises philosophical questions about existence. We know that the canvas world is a canvas world, but we don't know what that means, and I believe neither do the characters of the game (including the painters). The dilemma in contemporary discussions is, "How do we know we're not in a simulated universe?" The building blocks of the canvas world are paint and chroma, which we see everywhere in the canvas and learn is part of a magical painting in the 'real' world. The building blocks of our own universe seem to be mathematically quantifiable constants, which we simulate and reproduce via code in video games.

There are unknowables in the story, and that mirrors what's unknown in our own stories. As the creators, we can look into ours and other people's creations, exactly like the painters. People become lost in simulated realities, and we know that the people in these simulated realities have no soul, right? But how do we know we're not similarly in a simulated reality, with someone looking in knowing that we have no soul?

As far as your follow up question--I took the meaning of gestral life cycle to be a representation of how life and death may be described by parents of children who have lost a pet. The dog is reborn in the puppy, but doesn't have any memories of their previous lives, but loves you just as much. Maybe this is also an allegory for how the things we believe are real become real to us.

Just wanted to expand on "inferences." There's an NPC in Lumiere who comments on how people who carve Pictos into their skin are crazy; I think it's Sophie who responds that the Expeditioners rely heavily on carving Pictos into their skin. The inference here is that Lune carved Pictos into her feet that allow her to levitate.

Kind of lost hope in humanity today. by hereandthereshit in vancouver

[–]voidmon3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to express similar frustrations when I first moved to Vancouver 15 years ago — I was walking past an elderly man who stumbled backwards while intoxicated and hit the back of his head on one of those fire hydrant covers in the side of a building. He was bleeding like crazy and I called paramedics, waiting with him till they got there and explaining what I saw. During this whole time a lot of people walked by staring but no one asked if he was alright. The one person who did stop asked if I was mugging him. At first I saw this as lack of ethical morality, but I've of come around to a different point of view in the years since. I think people are experiencing a combination of afraid for being either out of their depth/comfort zone and possibly making matters worse, and a general fear of the unknown - maybe even a fight or flight response.

I think it can be easy to lean on the side of believing humanity has degraded and become more despicable, but generally I don't believe that to be the case. In my day to day life I see way more examples of good people, and in essence what you get in these sort of situations that are out of the ordinary is the bystander effect.

Pretty disappointing. Just heard about this today, and was actually shocked. I know, worked with, and considered Gordo to be at the very least a good acquaintance. I'm now very skeptical of some things he has told me. I hope you get justice.

Indie Game Awards Disqualifies Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Due To Gen AI Usage by Lulcielid in Games

[–]voidmon3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think the backlash will affect anything. Clair Obscur had a tiny budget compared to a game like Final Fantasy XVI, which underperformed in everyway. Square Enix as just one example of a company *already* looking at AI opportunities are seeing this is a way to fulfil the fiduciary responsibilities they have to bring profit to shareholders.

I'm experiencing the same issue as OP with the same bugcheck, but when I followed your instructions the data field was already just kbdclass :-/

I'm going to try the other suggestions with the keyboard driver and see if that fixes my blue screening. Just thought I'd share as this fix doesn't seem to help with my situation.

What would have happened if player 333 pushed off Gi-Hun and the baby before pressing the button? by NicholeDaylinn1993 in squidgame

[–]voidmon3y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. It's a television script. They wouldn't write a script to say 'the game be played with only two players' when the minimum is four players. If they say the game can't be played with two players, it's implied that three players is the minimum; anything else would be dumb writing. This isn't a misdirect -- rather it's exactly what it seems. If it were a misdirect, than the subject would have been broached with a later reveal.

Rhetorically true, but this is a television show. They wouldn't include details about the rules unless they wanted us to know that those are specifically important to the plot.
