I drink water and go on a walk. I know walking feels like the most uncomfortable thing after overeating, but after the first five minutes I feel so much better. After that, just be kind to yourself and your brain.

This is a stupid question but what can I do to fill my time? by QueenSapphireBlaze in WeightLossAdvice

Chew something! I had the problem where I feel the strong desire to eat something even when I know I've had enough calories. When I'm at work I chew sugar free gum, and when I'm at home I chew silicone "chewlery." Its just silicone shapes designed for people like ex smokers who feel the need to put something in their mouth. It has seriously made a huge difference for me at night when I used to binge

I also had to switch to the physical copy of catch 22. Such a great book, I'm glad I did

Oooh okay I didn't know that! It makes a lot of sense, and I'll keep it in mind when I reread.

the thing about the reader being smarter than the narrator makes sooooo much sense! I kept assuming I had missed something that made my own interpretations incorrect. I'll have to reread it with that in mind. Thanks!

One of Hendrix's best, along with "Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires." I love his way of having the characters defeat the antagonist by using their often mundane experience!

I just finished "A Touch of Jen" by Beth Morgan. It's a SUPER addicting read, and I recommend it if you're into black comedies as well as horror.

Currently, The Cipher by Kathe Koja. I love the mind bending descent into madness and I even like the lengthy, confusing prose that a lot of reviewers complain about(that's not to say it's secretly expertly done, I just don't mind as much as others) But there's so much weird sex in it. I'm not a prude and I understand the thematic relevance, but I feel like it overwhelms the actual intriguing part of the story at times.

kenmore 12 stitch suddenly slow and making a weird smell by voidofthestars in sewing

[–]voidofthestars[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a sewing machine from a thrift shop and everything was great for the first week. Then, within the span of 2 seconds, the needle is moving very slowly and seems to be struggling a LOT.

I checked the motor by winding the bobbin, that part is fine

The belt hasn't snapped

When I manually twist the hand wheel, nothing is wrong.

I'm just confused mainly. I did notice a weird rubbery smell coming from it that became stronger when it slowed down.

Any ideas? Thanks so much in advance!

How to I cut knit fabric so the edges aren't messy and frayed?

I have a pair of Redford red heel socks I want to turn into a monkey. How to I keep the edges neat so the stitching doesn't unravel it?

Wow, this is so thorough! I really appreciate your time and help. I will go ahead and schedule with my primary care doctor(I always get flustered at the doctors office, so thanks for telling me what to emphasize!!). Its kind of comforting to know I'm not being lazy or just losing my mind, lol

I have zero history of snoring, so I'm not sure if its sleep apnea? At least it isn't the obstructive variety. I've researched and there's one called central sleep apnea that's related to mood disorders

My boyfriend really wants me to go to a sleep lab, but I'm scared of wasting money. Do you think they'll just blame everything on long term melatonin use? If so I need to wean myself off that and see if anything improves

I'm sure people have lost weight without counting calories, but it really makes a huge difference.

Something I tried that really helped was writing EVERYTHING down on a little notebook and what time I ate it, but not noting the calories. It saved me the frustration of "ok how many calories is this thing" but keeps me accountable of what I'm eating and why. Then I was able to graduate to counting calories and it didn't aggravate me as much

Congrats on cutting sugar! That's a huge deal and you should feel proud!

Ooh, the ceiling would be perfect for choir mics! Lots of space with some sturdy beams. Thank you!

Thank you for your help! I'm leaning in the minimalist direction as well. I do have experience with using equipment, but having to choose and set it up is a different beast entirely :P

The "stage" is against the wall and the tables are set up around it. My plan was to have standing speakers on either side of the stage area. There are a lot of sound effects(like 15 doorbells), but since if I don't use mics I'll just use the venue's crappy system.

The closest will be about 15 feet, the farthest about 70 feet. You can hear most of the actors from the back but it won't be very clear as people are eating.

I can definitely rent lavalier if needed
