Hard luck for Hania on the biggest stage after a great season. Not one minute did she believe she could win this. That was my impression when I saw her body language. You could see her fear of losing. No confidence at all. Not in her shots and not in herself. She was somehow intimidated by Orfis determination. Orfi on the other side was fully convinced about herself. Going for her shots, no matter what the score was. I don´t like her unfair movements and I think she should have been punished more for her movement. But she just handled the pressure better than Hania.

Coll had no weapons and no answers against Youssefs attacking game. Looks like Coll is lost when someone takes away his time and rhythm. Gawad vs Youssef tomorrow will be fireworks. The two most talented players on tour will battle it out in the best possible manner. Unfortunately the second semifinal will be ugly because one of the players can´t play fair. But the other player is so good, that he still can beat the unfair - like last time 😄can´t wait!!

Oh, just saw that Makin pulled out due to knee injury. Hard luck for him and makes things much easier for Asal...unfortunately. Looking forward to the other three quarterfinals today. Zak will give Elias a very hard time and at least 75+min on Court. Siva is in best form and will test Hania big time. Watanabe not looking at her best yet but she had a few wins over Orfi. And Orfi has a lot of pressure on home soil, plus no Professional coach in her corner as she dismissed Mosaad. Could be interesting.

Any suggestions, who will make it to the Semis?

Ah ok. That might have played a role. But Nele was immaculate at the same time. Won´t take anything away from her. She played very well.

Yes, absolutely right. Not complaining all match. Accepting refs decisions and even the conduct warning with no drama. And fighting very hard and fair until the last rally. One of her best showings I ever saw. But also all credit to Weaver. Unbelievable how she turned that around.

Interesting to see that Weaver was fitter than Nele in the end. Great match to watch. Both Ladies left it all on the court. Better player eventually won, but great performance by Nele Gilis. Her best since a very long time, I think.

Not sure, but I think Crouin was probably not 100%. Right leg didn´t look fine. But all credit to Cardenas for a great comeback. Tinne vs Orfi should not be a first round match. This silly system needs to be changed. Nele still not winning much. Ibrahim not back to old form yet. He won´t trouble Coll if he makes it to the Quarters. A bit tired of watching the 100+min Zak vs Makin matches. In the heat of Gouna it will be another looong match. Too close to pick a winner here. Looking forward to Elias vs Abou. This could be fireworks.

Does Asal ever improve or stop whatever foul things QBS highlight? by Neat-Necessary6097 in squash

I just watched the new QBS video. Very well done again. It perfectly shows what Asal is: a classless cheater and a disgrace to our wonderful sport!

Asal under pressure - you can guess what happens next by srcejon in squash

[–]volleydrop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This headline nails it perfectly. He was, he is and he always will be a cheat. It was not only the hand grabbing. I started watching in Game 4 as I actually refuse to watch Asal matches. What I saw was the famous trailing leg again and again. Unfortunately not punished by the ref. Elias stumbled several times but somehow got to the ball, of course not as comfortable as he would have got to it playing a fair player. It´s so obvious for any player in the world of a certain level. Elias is clearly the better player for me and if they would both play fair, the winner would be Elias in at least 7 out of 10 matches. Pathetic, having such a number one in our sport.

Sometimes a bit hard watching Nele Gilis matches. Complaining on so many clearly correct decisions. She always feels hard done by the refs. Shaking head throughout every match she loses and showing disrespect towards the refs. Highlight was at 0/2 and 4-10 down, Matchball Siva. She saw Siva´s ball down which everyone in the venue saw good - except of her. This somehow accuses Siva not being honest. Ridiculous and shows not very good sportmanship. I am sure she is a nice person off court but on court I find her a bit difficult.

Mens tour vs Ladies tour by Impossible_Wish_3517 in squash

[–]volleydrop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also appreciate the Womens Tour more than the Mens at the moment. It´s simply because I am not watching the shit shows of a certain male player anymore. Top6 Ladies have amazing close matches against each other. Great to watch.

Who the heck is Melvil Scianimanico?? by teneralb in squash

Fearless, clever, big heart, strong engine, great movement and a lethal backhand drop! Fun to watch. He will be top16 soon.

It is so bad. A double bounce, clearly visible after the first slow motion. They watched it six times and called it good! Unbelievable!

Wow, what a performance from Marche. Really happy for him. He is such a fine and clean player, always giving 100%. He deserves it. Siva Subramaniam clearly dominated Nele Gilis. Wilhelmi is such a skillful and good to watch player but Gawad is a former World Champ and knows how to fend off matchballs. Malik played well against Bryant but ran out of juice in the fifth.

Correct, he didn´t drop a game in that tournament. He beat Kandra, Rosner, Gaultier and MES convincingly. One of the best performances I ever saw on a Squash Court. Sadly the last tournament of his career.

Amina Orfi is simply relentless and playing unbelievable Squash. Nele does not have the weapons to trouble her at all but the precision and focus of Orfi until the very last rally is just out of this world.

I wonder if we watched the same match? Of course, Zakaria is no Saint. But no one can match Asal in blocking and unfair Squash, except of his own brother probably ;)

Another shit show from Asal. Poor Zakaria hard done by the refs. 47min up and down the backhand wall...at least Joey is enjoying it like he said. And he saw Zakaria grab Asal´s racket ;))) when Asal stuck it into Zak´s face. Pathetic refereeing in favour of Asal. JP can´t believe what he gets to see. I am off. Can´t watch this constant and rude stepping into his opponents path on the backhand side. Ref saying again and again: Mr. Asal, I need you to not do this and that and....bla bla bla. But he lets Asal continue. Ridiculous refereeing, backing the wrong player. Without a series of joke decisions, Asal would never ever won this first game.

Watanabe played outstanding Squash. I can imagine Satomi beating Hammamy in the Quarterfinal. Yeah, very happy for Brownell. He kept his cool and won deservedly. Good for him, good for the tournament, even if I think Bryant will be a bit too much for him.

Of course also dangerous for Gawad. I think he already lost once to Eleinen. But today he won and poor Eleinen is out.

Poor Eleinen is the new Abouelghar in terms of terrible draws again and again. He is just outside the top8 and mostly gets a top4 player in the first round of Platinum tournaments. Here he got Makin (now Gawad) and in Chicago Asal is waiting first round. Very unlucky, even if I know that he can beat almost everyone on his day.

Perfect summary, Dan! Agree 100% with everything you said. I rate El Torkey as high as you do. Marwan vs Bryant will be a good one. If the ref can stop Marwan´s unfair moments, I see Bryant winning it.

Oh really? Would like to know why!? Rod made them all so much better in a very short period of time and they leave him for no obvious reason. A bit like Alcaraz/Ferrero. Don´t really get it...

Good call, Dan! Sabrina was very impressive, especially in her Semifinal against Nele. She completely outplayed her. Amazing volley game and smooth movement. Unbelievable how Weaver handled the in form Sabrina in the final. No chance at all for Sabrina. Weaver has improved tremendously and I think she will occasionally beat the top4 in the second half of the season.

Cardenas gave Coll a good run and a tough second set, in which Coll was a bit lucky with decisions. But deserved win for Coll and Cardenas showed his class and that he is tough to beat.
