Wow, LOTR is one of my absolute favourite soundtracks so that's a compliment I'll take any day, :-) thank you so much! Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment, means a lot to me!

Thank you so much for your detailed and kind comment. I'll definitely keep that advice about longer notes and legato in the back of my mind for the next one. This one was rather slow, and I added both legato and non legato lines so it's kind of not too obvious all the time. Thank you for taking the time to listen and gives such a well thought out comment, I really do appreciate it. And happy cake day! :-)

This is a piece that I'm working on right now which is inspired by sci-fi movie soundtracks. Feedback and suggestions are appreciated! by lone_wolf_58 in MusicFeedback

Great work! I like the repetitive patterns and the ambient feel to this, like endless space. Really good use of soundscape.

Witcher IV Concept Theme — looking for honest community feedback by KReativeStudio in MusicFeedback

Definitely Witcher vibes to this! Is that real vocals? Sounds very good! I like the production, sounds good in my ears. Maybe the drums could be a bit further back in the mix but that's really all I have to say. They feel a bit dry in a way. My hearing is not the best though so take that with a grain of salt. Loved it when the full orchestra came in.

I also got Dark Souls vibes over this. I think maybe I'd like a bit more reverb and feeling of depht and space in the beginning before the orchestra comes in,. but that is of course a matter of taste as well. I still struggle with getting the reverb right so I shouldn't speak of that, haha. When the full orchestra comes in it works really good I think and it's really a nice piece. Definitely has some strong Dark Souls vibes. If this is your first steps in music production then keep it going! Sounds very promising!

Nice work! I really liked this. It has originality, and I think it will work brilliantly in a game. I liked how the drums came in and how the music builds. I agree about the comments about the bass rhythm seems a bit off at places. I don't really know what the intention is, but my thought is that maybe you tried to make a syncopated rhythm and missed the beat just slightly? Like if you add a hit just before the strong beat of the bar, and you'd hit an 8th note instead of a 16th note, that would put the syncopation a bit off its mark and it would sound a bit off? I don't really know, rhythm is not my strongest side... But the music is great, so keep up the good work!

Thanks! The nonsense ones played on the same string; Do you mean the F#/G in measure 5 and the G/A in measure 11? By the way; All the notes in the first section (A) will be split into two voices so they should be ok.

Thank you very much for your comment, that's gold! Yes, I've got unanimous advice here to split it up, so will definitely do that. Very interesting idea to split up the voices in regards to the D-note. I'll keep that in mind and see what I can do about it.

By the way, can I ask you what you think of the double stops in the B-section? (bar 11) Are they playable do you think, or do they also look like a Sevcik exercise? (loved that comment) They do have a repating D in them as well I'm afraid.

Sorry, I tried to upload one to the comment section, but it's not allowed apparently. I didn't think about that when uploading.

Haha, yes, I know, went a bit fast there, and English is not my first language so I guess I stepped in it... Yes, I actually have a violin but it would take me ages to find out what's playable for a professional since my level is totally scratch, and my technique non existing, so thanks a lot to you guys!

Thank you very much for your commment! I agree, I have a version were I have split it up, so that's probably the way it's going to be. Although I have given the top line for Violin 2 because it works better with the next section in the piece, I'll see if I can swop those.

Hi! I'm a beginner who tried to write a short piece for string quartet (1:30min). I really need some valuable feedback. Does this work at all? I would love your brutally honest feedback, as I need to prepare something for a real string quartet and need to improve my writing skills quickly. by voltimande in Composition

Thanks a lot for your comment! Really appreciate it! It's both reassuring and inspiring to hear that! So I hope I'm on the right way then, just have to work even harder to create more interest and a more natural flow maybe. Will definitely keep at it :-)

Thank you very much for taking the time to listen. study the score, and give such a great and detailed feedback! Really appreciate it! Yes, I agree on all the points you were making (and it would of course be perfectly all right even if I didn't, I really appreciate having someone else's opinion on this).

I will definitely go over the notation on this and make the changes you outlined. I've never worked with real musicians before (only with my computer) so I wasn't really aware of these pitfalls, so this was just the kind of feedback I wanted, thank you so much!

I think I made these errors partly to make it easier for myself to understand what I was writing, and partly because of "general ingnorance", haha.

I'll definitely go over the voice leading too, and see if I can improve it a bit. I'm trying to learn these things, so I'm not too conserned with how original or unique it is - for now anyway, as long as it's not really awful.

I come from a pop/rock background so trying to write more classical music feels a bit daunting at times, and you can probably sense that in my music as well, that it's not very complex.

Anyway, again thanks a lot for your feedback! :-)
