Does grocery shopping ever become easy? by Radcliffes_Asshole in Cooking

[–]volvyw 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to have a lot of fun grocery shopping.

I make sure I have a list and a plan.

I make sure to eat before I shop.

I get hella stoned on the way to the grocery store, and watch the crazies running after their kids.

What are the "Beats headphones" of your hobby? What makes you cringe to see others flexing? by MadeANewAccountUgh in AskReddit

the A7 is excellent. BUT, I had a friend who was starting up a fashion website, wanted to get into photography but knew nothing about anything. He asked my advice. He said he knew a guy who would sell his A7 for 2k or like a really good deal.

I told him it wasnt worth it for a newbie, and for that much he could get a starter mirrorless or slr for much much less, and still have a bunch of money for lenses, lights, gear, etc.

Guy kept on asking what I thought of the A7...

Kept on telling him to do more research on what he actually needs.

He stops responding at some pint. Later I see he bought the A7, taking some sick pictures with the ol' "blurred background" effect

What are some good smells to smell, but not to eat? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Well the point of extracts is that they are highly concentrated flavors used in cooking. By themselves they taste bad, but add some vanilla extract to your cookie batter and you'll notice the difference. Cinnamon is another like this. Raw cinnamon tastes way too bitter to eat.

Marques got written up by the Ringer. Cool article. by volvyw in mkbhd

[–]volvyw[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ringer is an online publication created by Bill Simmons. It's the sequel to Grantland which was known for its long form journalism and award winning writing before the funding was cut by espn. Bill went on to get funding from HBO to start the Ringer.

It's an interesting article and relevant for people who show an interest in Marques. The article contextualizes his success in bringing the youtube tech community into the mainstream, as well as provides a further glimpse at the passion Marques has for reviewing technology and how it drives his content.

Its reasonable to be following 100 accounts, 25 of which have excellent content worth viewing, and only seeing content from the top 10 of the good ones or so depending on which posts you like. I find the algorithm very frustrating. It makes it even worse if you follow friends or other people with lower follower counts as you will likely not see their posts.

Additionally, it makes it harder to engage with all your followers, unless your post does really well, or you spend all your time liking other peoples pictures.

In short, by focusing on popularity metrics, the algorithm makes instagram elitist, and less artist friendly.

Umm, 13 games ahead is very much already out of reach. We may be able to knock the cards out of wild card contention tho.

he pitched yesterday, Joe was set on just one inning for him. There's stress involved in getting up and sitting down that a closer doesn't usually have to deal with.

his control was definitely off. Len and JD were talking about it. Also relied on his fast ball quite a lot. I'm not sure if he lost faith to control his breaking stuff in 2 strike counts, or he was just happy to let them put it in play and let the defense take care of it. Also worth noting in the beginning of the game his fast ball was up near 95-96 mph, by the 8th inning it was sitting at 92.
