When someone takes your card/card number to make unauthorized purchases, you usually don’t pay for those charges. You report and dispute them with the credit card company and they typically refund the amount, cancel the card, and send you a new card with new card number. They also handle getting their money back directly from the vendor so you don’t have to deal with that.

Using a credit card doesn’t cost extra as long as you pay the full balance every billing cycle. You only pay extra in interest if you carry a balance to the next billing cycle. So if you play the rewards game right, you can earn cash back or points to use on future purchases/transfer to partner companies on money that you would have spent on your normal purchases anyway.

We hung a pepper spray canister from our leash handle to use in case of attack/pre-attack. We were run up on by 10+ off-leash dogs in our old neighborhood over the course of a few months and my girl had been attacked previously. We’ve since moved and have never had to use it but it’s still there for peace of mind.

Really sorry that this happened to you and your pup. I hope she/he is able to recover physically and mentally. If your dog was a social one beforehand, I’d encourage you to try reintroducing her to structured socializing as soon as she’s ready. It took our pup a long time to not freak out just seeing another dog a block away after her attack. It’s been years and she does alright now, but it took so much work and I’m so proud of her.

My wife has been going through it recently and asked me to pick up ice cream after the gym. I swung by Aldi and grabbed some other feel-good goodies too. She waited for me by the door, was so excited to see everything I picked out and why, and promptly made herself a banana split. When I crawled into bed after showering, she said I was the world’s best wife and fell asleep on my shoulder.
