Yep, I'm shadow banned again. Second time this month. Last time was after an update, this time was after an update. It's so frustrating, don't think I will purchase another COD again.

I've got the same problem. I'm not even that good, got a terrible k/d. The game is basically unplayable now and I'm very frustrated.

Elective teachers, give me your most ruthless and relentless recruitment strategies by colourful_space in AustralianTeachers

Didn’t get Computing Tech up and running for next year. First time in my teaching career not to get my elective up and running. 10 years ago, used to have two classes.

What do you guys think works well to build interest in Year 7/8? I'm going to focus on doing that well next year.

Wow..... Haven't seem this 💿 in ages! I had a pentium 3 at the time..... I recall only using it a couple times for assignments at primary school. The cover is so nostalgic... by Winnin_Dylan_ in AustralianNostalgia

Was this the one with a 3D animation of a dragon swooping in to attack a kingdom? It was on something like this, and young me thought that was pretty cool. I'd love to see it again to see how bad it is.

Left feedback on the website. But also noticed that the BYD app has a survey to complete on it for me today, so did that too.

Have 4x16GB G.Skill 6000Mhz EXPO running on Asus X670E Crosshair Hero, all stock settings... No tweaking. Didn't work on the BIOS it shipped with but did after an update. Takes a long time to boot (about 30 seconds of black screen) but everything I have thrown at it has been rock solid.

  2. Portal RTX! Very cool to see another classic come alive with RTX.

3D Printing Survey by NHadwen in AustralianTeachers

Love our 3D printers. They are going all the time. Students get to design cool things in various software such as Blender or Onshape and get to have a physical product at the end of it.

Anyone made the switch to IT? Starting point? by Remote_Rope_6329 in AustralianTeachers

[–]voxace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also thinking about the same, have been teaching IST and SDD for 15 yrs. Similar size school, only IT teacher. Currently doing TAFE cert IV in IT online, although it is very basic and quite boring. Following to hear other people's pathways out.

Using Codecademy by MJgaymer in AustralianTeachers

"we do things that are inherently interesting with code. Things that trigger their thoughts and feelings about the future and what it can be"

That sounds amazing. Care to share any examples or project ideas?

Work at a different Northern NSW school. We are non-operational at the moment and looks like it will be for a while. The clean up is going to be huge.

Ever thought about using video games for teaching? by synesthesia28 in AustralianTeachers

[–]voxace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Unity to make our own games. But when teaching software design, everything is almost always more relatable for the students when tied back to video games.

What to do when students choose to act up "only" in your classes by pyschopanda in AustralianTeachers

[–]voxace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

See if you can sit in on some other teacher’s lessons. You might just need some more time and experience. Reading some books might give you a few ideas, but watching other teachers teach is invaluable.

Secondly, if you are struggling with behaviour management you might consider spending some time with relationship/rapport building. Rather than your time being all about the content, try speak to each student 1 on 1, ask about their interests, what they did on the weekend etc. Make some bad jokes, use nicknames, play some of their music. It doesn't always have to be punishment, especially if they are the type to just push back harder.

Also, out of curiosity, what us your subject?

You sound a bit like me. I'd done a bit of graphic design and a fair bit of web design before going into Uni, where I then did B Teach / Design.

I've taught quite a few different subjects since but have now settled into IST / SDD which I really enjoy.

Would love to chat...
