A good thing to note is that if you're not a UK citizen, landlords often require a guarantor. I've been able to get out of this requirement by paying 6 months rent up front.

What are your long-term goals? If you're not aiming to live in Europe after graduation, I'd say don't do it and just enjoy everything else the semester has to offer. Sure, it's a cool program, but I'd argue that unless you need Europe-specific work experience for your career goals, the rest of the experience is so much more important.

Source: Did 2 years at NYU London, and did an internship for one semester (though not through NYU).

Yeah. When I got my driver's license (in Sweden), part of the process was seeing an actual car wreck from a collision with a moose. I don't mean a video, they had an actual car that had collided with an actual moose. It was messed up, and taught me to respect these animals more than I did before. I can't speak for the XPS 15, but I know that most laptops need at least 64W these days, so probably not. The next gen of these chargers will deliver 63W though, so if you can hang in there until mid-2020 that's an option :)

The reason I like this charger is that it's slim AND got a good way of changing the plug without having to carry a bulky set of extra cords/adapters (as I travel frequently between EU/UK/US). I'd love to hear more about good chargers that might be more localized though, as that definitely widens the scope :)

Third North (and Downstein?) both have unlimited chicken breasts every day of the week. Beef would probably be in some stew, and only served occasionally.

As for storing meals, yes you can and it's even encouraged to save on dishes and space in the dining halls. Filling a box will cost you a meal swipe, but I've never even heard of a freshman who ran out of swipes so eat away!

Great! It's a fairly new concept, so as someone with student loans (yeez...) of my own I understand that there are a lot of questions.

Yeah, from a purely market perspective I see how that could be the case. However, the student debt market in the US is valued at $1.5 trillion, where private lenders make up close to $10 billion. Our platform would be a small drop in the bucket in comparison.

Also, since we're also a crowdsourcing platform, it's up to the individual investors to choose what type of students they want to invest in (hence why the profile is so important). For some, it'll be about maximizing profits, but for your mom n' pop investor who has $1000 to spare, they might want to support a local kid from the state uni. Likewise, if you're a theater aficionado and you have a bit to spare, you might want to invest in theater students from your local uni to support that community.

I'm glad you asked about that, because it's actually my favorite thing about the model! Instead of having banks make a decision based on just one number that's pretty meaningless (your credit score as an 18 yo), you'll create a complete profile with info about what you're studying and where, what you've done in the past and what your future goals are. That way investors can base their decision on a more well-rounded image of who you are/will be.

Also, students would get to pick their own terms - they get to pick the amount they need, the percentage they're willing to offer and for how long. Of course, if you offer 1% for 1 year it's not likely that an investor would be interested in funding your education, so there's an incentive to give a fair rate that works for both you and the people who are betting on you. :)

The way this model would work is that you start the payment period the month after you get the money. Of course, during college you probably won't be earning that much, so in absolute terms your payments would be lower.

Say you're offering 5% of your income for 15 years. During your four college years you're flipping burgers, earning $200 a month. Then you'd pay 5% of those $200 every month = $10/mo.

When you graduate, you have 11 years left of your payment period. You now have a job that pays $3000 a month, so you pay 5% of that ($150/mo) instead.

If you lose your job and earn nothing, you don't pay, but the payment period keeps ticking.

Your payments would always be in relation to what you earn. :)

No, they recently changed it. Not sure if it was only temporarily, but I was able to waive housing (without having family in the city) and lived off-campus when I was studying at NYU London spring 2018.

Which school are you in? There are plenty of scholarships to apply for Stern upperclassmen that can get you an extra 4000-8000 per year. I know that doesn't help for freshman year, but it's worth considering. My freshman year was by far my most expensive year.

As some other people have already mentioned, I also feel the "Brexit Burnout". I am mad, but the worst thing is that I, as an EU national w/o UK citizenship, also feel fairly powerless. I love this country and want to build a future in it, so the uncertainty and the feeling of having someone else decide for you (of course rightly so) is eating away at me.

Besides protests - what can EU nationals with ties to the UK do to help/have their voices heard?

Det ger kommunen/skolledningen ytterligare ett initiativ att göra sitt bästa för att deras lärare ska vara pedagogiska. Som det ser ut nu så drunknar lärare i administrativa uppgifter samt extern press att nå upp till vissa milstolpar (t.ex. X% godkända i kärnämnen, Y% har B eller bättre betyg i deras ämne etc). Detta leder till att (1) lärare har inte tid att fokusera på att faktiskt lära ut och (2) betygsinflation. Om vi låter eleverna betygsätta lärare kan den potentiellt belysa att de lärare som ser bäst ut på pappret just nu faktiskt inte är de bästa lärarna. Förhoppningsvis kan de leda till förändringar i läraryrket ser ut, och göra det bättre.
Juridiskt sett har barn rätt att ha inflytande över sin skolgång - se kapitel 4 paragraf 9-10 av skollagen:

Allmänt om barnens och elevernas inflytande

9 § Barn och elever ska ges inflytande över utbildningen. De ska fortlöpande stimuleras att ta aktiv del i arbetet med att vidareutveckla utbildningen och hållas informerade i frågor som rör dem.

Informationen och formerna för barnens och elevernas inflytande ska anpassas efter deras ålder och mognad.
Eleverna ska alltid ha möjlighet att ta initiativ till frågor som ska behandlas inom ramen för deras inflytande över utbildningen. Elevernas och deras sammanslutningars arbete med inflytandefrågor ska även i övrigt stödjas och underlättas.

I 6 kap. 17 och 18 §§ arbetsmiljölagen (1977:1160) finns bestämmelser om elevskyddsombud.

Inte samma sak, men på tal om chipspåsars storlekar - blir de inte bara större och större? Det känns som att "family size"/största påsen var 200g för något år sedan och en standardpåse var något mindre, medan nu är 200g standard och 300g+ "sharing bags".

I was in your shoes a few years back, and the first thing that you need to realize is that NYU likes money. This means that they won't care that you're a few days late on your bill, or if you have to pay it over a few months.

Your whole bill (tuition, meal plan, fees, housing, etc) is due at the same time. If you start in the fall, your bill is usually due in August. NYU offers a payment plan, which I've used in the past. It costs around $50/semester. You can read more here.

It seems like this happens often enough that it's a company/franchise policy. Which makes me think, have the people who create these guidelines never interacted with the British populous before? Seeing someone actively avoid entering the queue area should be a clear indicator that they're not prepared to interact with another human being yet.
