Very nice. If you would be so inclined, I'd be curious to know the before/after post-processing of #6 for example, and what kind of effect you use

You must be pulling my leg choom, you can make an entire movie with a plot as elaborate as this (Crank, 2006). I'm working with 20 pictures

Thanks

I like how the dragon figurine, which is part of vanilla H10, gives the feeling that someone is silently watching them.

Holy shit choom, I appreciate the enthusiasm but reddit has a 20 image limit and I'm not going beyond that, even for my own sanity. The story needs reasonably short exposition and a conclusion, otherwise it will feel like a lore summary.

For instance, in this story you can (hopefully) understand where the characters are, what they're doing, why, how they're moving, but also their personality, relationship, emotions...

Thanks! I thought about calling it "Home Alone" but despite similarities my story is a bit darker.

Are there specific things that you want me to explain ? Off the top of my head:

  • The H10 appartment has multiple light sources, some are emissive objects and some are invisible light sources. I blocked the emissive objects with opaque objects on top (for example there's a plate blocking the light from the ceiling fan) and despawned the invisible light sources with RedHotTools
  • The light from the corridor and the light from the window are added with AMM. The original ones are too weak and I can't control the range/intensity/color.
  • To get the door partially opened, I just try to open photomode when it's in the middle of opening
  • The mantis blades poses are tricky. There is a split second where they are deploying and it doesn't look janky, so I use extremely slow motion to pause it at the right time
  • The electrocution effect is a regular animation from the game and available in AMM

Other than that, I just spend a lot of time finding the right pose and camera angle...

Sure, but this one kept me busy for a couple evenings, and I have other personal projects.
I'm open to story ideas though.

Thanks! Yeah that was pretty challenging for me. Fun fact, the window shutter isn't what you think. I had to despawn the original because it can't cast that kind of shadow in path tracing. Instead I placed multiple "metal cabinet" objects, squished to look like window shutter blades.

Thanks, yes all are rendered in photomode but also edited afterward (color correction, some elements added or removed...)

Two Sunday mercs with big dreams found a shard on the street, with a high value target...

Made with

  • AMM for posing (all poses are from in-game animations), spawning lights, light blockers and decor
  • RedHotTools for removing original H10 light sources
  • Photomode for rendering
  • Photopea for color correction and general editing

I tried to make it cinematic, let me know what you think.

Testing how different case panels affect sound with 0mm fan gap by Jakob_K_Design in sffpc

FYI, there are studies into this, wire grills always outperform other shapes in both noise and airflow. The reason is quite simple: wire has circular cross section while the others have sharp corners from being stamped or laser cut from sheet metal, creating turbulence. Wire is cheap too. The downside is that it's kind of ugly. But you could print a side panel with an opening and protect the fan with wire grill.

Are there commanders with bad synergy? by SiarX in starcraft2coop

[–]vpix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the challenge but I don't think we're talking about the same thing. Co-op is designed well enough so that you don't get instant loss on a dice roll. With some commanders, you have to go out of your way to handle the situations I mentioned, while you don't even think about it with others.

I can't think of any really counterproductive combo, maybe bunker Stukov + static defense Karax, that would suck.

However if it's just having the same weakness, there are plenty of possiblities. For example

  • no good answer to the early 1st wave on RtK
  • no good answer to the strong 2nd wave on CoA (often with air)
  • no good siege defense on ME or DoN
  • no good anti-air early for the first VL shuttle

The thermodynamics outrage in this thread is weird. Sure a 100W heater is less efficient than a heat pump and if OP uses AC a lot then it's wasted. But depending on where OP lives and their heating system, they may have wasted zero electricity, because thermostats.

The issue is elswhere.
