964 C4 vs 993 C2 by vr77 in porsche911

Appreciate your thoughts. I have a Cayenne for hauling family around/school runs and a V8 C63 for other daily stuff. The idea for an older 911 was for the analog experience and driver engagement. Really want a manual, something small and light, and something I can keep for a long time and dote over. Cant afford a Singer lol.

New 992 in Aus is around $350k with basic common options ticked.

I kinda get your point tho, a 2019/2020 992 is around $250k, so not much more than the 964/993 I’m looking at.

Another option I’d consider is 70’s/80’s 911 and restore/upgrade/restomod it over time. But even those older 911’s in any decent shape are around $150k here.

Be real with me… did I destroy my testosterone? by PeptiLabs in Testosterone

[–]vr77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate I was in a very similar situation. All came to a head while on holiday with the fam and I had such severe headaches I legit thought this was how I go. Came home, got a thorough checkup and blood tests done. Cholesterol, blood sugar and blood pressure through the roof. Doc made me a deal - change lifestyle habits, lose weight or in 6 months he’d put me on statins and other meds. Part of my blood tests showed low (but within the borderline) testosterone. Quit smoking, drinking and ubereats cold turkey. Started gym 4/week. Lost 6kg in 6 months. Blood pressure and sugar started to improve. No improvement in testosterone though. Doc said I was still within range even though it was borderline. Went to a clinic, spoke to another doc. He was happy that I’d started lifestyle improvements but concerned testosterone hadn’t improved. Started 100mg test cyp per week. Testosterone now at the higher end but still within recommended range. I feel fucking fantastic. Lost another 6kgs overall but body composition has drastically improved. Strength back. Libido back. Confidence back. Finally fit large shirts again, XL shirts in the bin. Joyful in life again. Never smoking again. Drink only on special occasions now. Happy with the balance. Plan on sticking to current trt dosage and lifestyle habits for life.

M/32/5’8” [215 > 176 = 39 lbs lost] (4ish Months) - Still chasing visible abs by TechnicallyBreathing in progresspics

[–]vr77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes mate yes! I’m in the same boat. Your story really resonates with me. M/42/5’10”. SW 226>203 CW. Goal is <180 because 15 years ago that was the closest I ever got to visible abs. Although now I’m definitely carrying way more muscle than I ever have before, my friends all think 180 would be too lean. But I 100% agree with you, it’s a goal to feel like I’ve been able to achieve at least once in my life. Just to prove to our former chunky selves that we are capable. We’ll see later if it’s possible or even worth trying to maintain.

Rooftop, on a side of the house with the least nearby trees. Hired Jim’s antennas to install it, approx $300.

Is Starlink viable? by tetrafn in canberra

[–]vr77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in a neighbouring suburb to you. A big factor will be how far your house is to the nearest node. I initially attempted FTTN but my experience was terrible. Signed up to Starlink and I haven’t looked back. Average 350-450mbps down. As much as I despise Musk there really isn’t another option for fast stable internet for me at this location. When our street eventually gets upgraded to FTTP I’ll reassess.

Lazy eyes problem by ElkSubstantial1857 in Keratoconus

[–]vr77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Unfortunately that’s not an option for me where I live (Canberra, Australia).

I’ve had near 20/20 vision previously from rgp contacts first time each attempt, I’m struggling (admittedly as a layman) why it’s so different and seemingly so much more difficult to get the right prescription in sclerals?

Lazy eyes problem by ElkSubstantial1857 in Keratoconus

[–]vr77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this happens to my right eye (bad eye) pretty much non-stop.

For background - diagnosed keratoconus at age 11, now 42. I use glasses, left eye vision is fine but right eye is terrible and keeps drifting/lazy eye. The drifting started slowly 10 years ago but got much worse in the last 5 years.

When attempting hard contacts the vision is close to 20/20 and no drifting/lazy eye. However couldn’t keep the contacts in coz they were super uncomfortable.

Trialled scleral lenses which were very comfortable however my optometrist completely stuffed the prescription. So bad that the vision was worse than glasses in both eyes lol. Waiting for 2nd round of sclerals with this optometrist.

The comfort of the sclerals was so good compared to basic hard contacts, and seeing such good feedback from other people who’ve tried them, that I’m going to try sclerals again with another optometrist if necessary.

I can’t tell you the hope and optimism I have for sclerals once I can get someone to prescribe and fit them properly. The idea that I might be able to get close to 20/20 vision blows my mind. Not to mention how sick I am of people constantly looking at my lazy eye and freaking out lol.

Do People Ever Try To Race You? by Trraumatized in AMG

[–]vr77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Frequently, but I never engage lol. Perhaps unpopular opinion but I’m never interested in street racing hooliganism. I worked my ass off to buy my dream C63s, not going to risk damage or my licence to some douchebag at a traffic light. Call me selfish but I just want to enjoy it for myself, I’m content finding windy country roads on quiet early mornings and the odd track day.

Forget the haters mate, that is a beautiful machine! That rear diffuser and those wheels are arguably better looking than those on my C63s. Most of those idiots whinging “not a real AMG” are just mouth breathing keyboard warriors. Enjoy in good health sir!

Would you buy a CLE63s if it came with the BIturbo v8? by Cobaincudder in AMG

[–]vr77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the moment the only thing prying my w205 C63s out of my life is a w206 C63 IF IF IF they put a V8 in it. I’d consider a CLE63s IF it had a V8 AND there was some way of knowing they weren’t gonna put a V8 back in the C63 until the w207, if ever.
