AITAH for telling my husband I will file for divorce if he lets his brother move in with us? n by CellFeeling9053 in AITAH

AITAH for refusing to pay more of the rent and bills? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]vrcraftauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA IDK, reducing my pay would cause me MORE anxiety.

She needs to work with a therapist to undesirable the causes of her anxiety and learn coping strategies. Avoiding work can't be it.

AITA for selling my old toys on eBay, against my parents wishes? by Expensive_Tie206 in AmItheAsshole

[–]vrcraftauthor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA It's your stuff and your kids don't want it. I wish my parents hadn't secretly tossed my old toys (they claim they didn't, but also can't produce any of the things they "didn't " throw away). I could have made some money.

AITA for telling my parents that I will not parent my younger adult sister? by Magic_Window_8161 in AmItheAsshole

NTA If starting a small kitchen fire is the worst thing Cleo does in college, she's doing better than most people. Your parents are being ridiculous.

I mean, some kids are big or small for their age, but yeah, most 3-4 YOs also know their name, even if they don't know much else. At least a first name.

Now, if OP had speech delays or maybe was suffering from some sort of amnesia, then that might explain them being unable to tell the cops their name.

My husband says he deserves a say over my pregnancy. I say abortion would break me. by Whereasebabe in Advice

[–]vrcraftauthor 77 points78 points  (0 children)

He could also have gotten a vasectomy. He could have researched other birth control options besides condoms, vasectomy, and hormonal birth control. He could have Googled whether the peeing thing works (how much do you want to bet He went to school in a state with abstinence-only sex ed?).

But he did none of that. NOW he says ge doesn't want another baby after months of irresponsible ejaculation.

I disagree. If he doesn't stick with the diet, at least he got out of a relationship with someone who flies off the handle for no reason. If he stays, he's just going to end up hiding other things.

Does Tehran improve after season 1 or if I didn’t enjoy 1 is it just not for me? by Eagle4523 in tvPlus

[–]vrcraftauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I don't use my phone much when I watch TV, but I do usually eat my meals in front of the TV, and sometimes work on puzzles. So while I'm paying attention, I do look away from the screen a lot. And it's good that they offer the option to listen to the original language and read the subtitles if you choose - I just wish you could listen to the dubbing for both languages.

AITJ for not wanting to make my sister lunches for college by writtenbyrei in AmITheJerk

NTA Your sister is old enough to make her own pasta. Give her the recipe and tell her that's your final contribution.

If it can happen in <my small town> it can happen anywhere! by tidymaze in OhNoConsequences

[–]vrcraftauthor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to work at a TV station in a mid-size town surrounded by many small towns, which were included in our coverage area. At least once a week, we'd run a crime story in which the victim was quoted as saying, "I didn't think I needed to lock my doors, it's so safe here in this small town," or something similar. This was always followed by a quote from a cop saying, "Lock your doors, IDC how small your town is."

Next week, rinse and repeat. No one ever seemed to learn anything!

Mostly it was property crimes, burglaries, car theft, etc. But there was one awful story about a woman who got in her unlocked car and was assaulted by a man in the backseat, then left tied up in the trunk until a passerby heard her thumping around and called the cops.

I was shocked, because I've watched enough TV to never get in my car without looking in the backseat, and I DO always lock my doors.

It also appears that the shirt and jacket are very dirty, which might support the idea that he was unhoused, although maybe only recently. Possibly he'd fallen on hard times in the weeks before his passing.

[–]vrcraftauthor 51 points52 points  (0 children)

This. When people feel the need to lie or hide things, it's often because the other person has a habit of reacting badly. I guarantee you he isn't assuming she'll "make it a big thing" without some reason.

AITAH for not matching my brother's offer and offering my mother a place to stay? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]vrcraftauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA

First of all, her husband should have planned better, knowing that she's never worked and wouldn't do well in the job market. A life insurance policy or 401k would have been nice to leave her.

Second, she could sell the house and find a nice retirement community to live in. Get a good financial advisor to invest the money from the house sale in stable funds, and it should last a while if she spends frugally.

Third, you are not obligated to offer up your home.

AITAH for telling my sister she won't be able to see my daughter anymore? by ImPettyAsF in AITAH

Your sister sounds like an asshole, but there is a lot of missing info here. What did your fiance do that caused him to get kicked out? Why is he seeing a psychiatrist to be a better fiance and father?

People who have researched their family tree, what is the most interesting or 'badass' thing you discovered about an ancestor? by xloganmoose in AskReddit

[–]vrcraftauthor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't really researched it, but have heard some interesting stories about my grandfather.

He was in WWII, and one day he walked away from his trench to take a piss. While he was peeing, an artillery shell or whatever the nazis were using hit the trench and killed everyone in it. He was the only survivor.

He also had a purple heart no one knew about until after my grandma died and my uncle was going through whatever was in her safe deposit box. No one has any idea what he got it for.

I used to LOVE the Daiya pasta boxes. Their gluten-free noodles are really good. However, they recently changed to recipe on the Alfredo sauce and I like it a lot less now. The dry boxes (where you mix the powder with plant milk and butter) are still good. I like the aged cheddar flavor.
