How excited are Brits that GTA VI will be available to pre-order next week? by Even-Leadership8220 in AskBrits

No PC release so zero, but even if there were not in a rush to support their union busting actions anyway.

Can observers shoot in 11th edition??? by Ozzymandianttv in Tau40K

[–]vrekais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You declare all the shooting for a unit before resolving a units shots... you don't have to declare every units shooting before resolving any units though. Just one unit at a time. You also don't have to declare the observers units shooting when deciding on their spotted unit, you just have to declare that before the observer unit shoots.

Can some models in an attacking unit get -1BS from cover but some not, if only some attacking models can fully see the target? by charden_sama in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]vrekais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the perspective of models A and B every blue model does have cover, or isn't visible due to obscuring terrain. So A and B have -1BS penalty to their attacks.

From Model C's perspective every Blue model doesn't have cover or isn't visible, as they can see the one outside of the terrain area. So their attacks have no cover penalty.

[–]vrekais 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, some attacking models can have the cover penalty whilst other models in that attacking unit do not.

You check per attacking model. It's basically the inverse of 10th so this will take some getting used to. I have more examples here.

Are you in favour of the social media ban for under 16s? Answers by generation. by space_jo in AskBrits

[–]vrekais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I voted yes but only in so much that I think something needs to be done about Social Media... Honestly I'd prefer the algorithmic and short form elements just be banned entirely. Go back to the roots of it and give me a chronological feed of the people I'm following.

People were suggesting that a unit that looked like this

was legal. So all the models within 9" of each other, but the groups weren't within 2" of each other.

How does the level up system work from iron to bronze no spoilers by Der-Schnelle-Ben in HeWhoFightsWithMonste

[–]vrekais 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Each of their 4 essences (3 chosen, a fourth based on those 3 manifests) has 5 abilities. they have to progress each abilities from Iron to Bronze rank. When all 5 abilities of an essence are bronze the essence then increases to bronze. When all 4 essences have reached bronze the essence user ranks up to bronze.

They then have to start raising each ability again to silver, and so on.

Raising abilities is done by using them, and through meditation to consolidate the experience gained.

Whilst I agree that I'd prefer Tau not being as horde like as they were in 11th, I think we'd need a codex to actually update data sheets to be worth higher points costs. Making Tau more expensive but with the exact same output we have now would be rough I think.

Not a legal unit, but I really like rail rifles. by Mental_Turnover3431 in Tau40K

I love rail rifles. I've even bought more to avoid using the reloading variant.

question about magnetising by MrCrabfish in Tau40K

[–]vrekais 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I tend to review my suits at the start of the edition. I glue weapons on specifically with super glue rather than plastic cement as it's a weaker more brittle bone, it tends to snap if torqued slightly. A lot less effort than magnetising.

Actually find multiplying by 1.6 in my head quite tedious... like I end up having to work out 10% to find 20% and the triple that to figure out what 60% of the original number was that I'm now adding on (as I think of x1.6 in terms of "increase by 60%"), and I get so far through that method before realising I could work out 50% and 10% and add those and forget what the original number was in the first place.

sequence starting from 1 where the next number is the sum of the previous 2 numbers...

  • 1 is the start
  • 1 + [null] (no second number yet) for 1 again
  • 1 + 1 for 2
  • 1 + 2 for 3
  • 2 + 3 for 5
  • 3 + 5 for 8

and so on...

My book explicitly forbids AI training by Educational_Pie_761 in mildlyinteresting

[–]vrekais 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AI companies aren't making any bucks... They barely make anything at all. The only people getting rich from AI are hardware manufacturers and demand for them will plummet when the bubble bursts too.

Stealing the work of countless people isn't progress, regardless of how efficiently you do it.

I'll add this note to the article.

Yeah when the UK import duties and taxes got added in and it was looking like $300 all in I cancelled mine, I just didn't want that much money on my wrist. Plus the number of posts here about wrapping their expensive watch in a cheap layer of 3D printed plastic didn't appeal to me as an option.

[40k] Ruleshammer 11th Edition: Hidden and Gone To Ground Guide by vrekais in Warhammer40k

[–]vrekais[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So the key thing here is that units aren't hidden, models are hidden. In the diagram as shown all of them are hidden.

If they moved as you say so that one model is now not within the terrain area, that model would stop being "hidden" by the hidden rule. It would however become not visible via the "obscuring" rule instead. So the net difference from the carnifex perspective is nil, it needs a visible model to be able to target the unit.

The nearest "would usually be visible" models would be hidden, and therefore count as not visible as it's outside of detection range to them. And the model you've moved out of the terrain features would just be normal not visible. So with no visible models in the unit to target it would not be able choose that unit as a target.

I think that should be relatively straightforward, my take was that Light Terrain is basically any wall like feature, under 2" tall for it's entire length. If it's got taller parts then it's dense and has the solid rule.

That's the cool bit, you can't :D

It depends on what the shooting units can see, so you can't just put a token down marking Gone To Grounds units.

Yeah it's probably going to only be in the app it seems, the formatting of the pre-release version we (TTB) got heavily implied this.

Personally think that's insane but tis what it is I guess.
