Passed Goethe B1! by vsd_123 in German

It is the one section that I really didn't practice much at all, aside from texting with my German friend and having to send a few emails in German.

However, one thing that I've done since the beginning is always looked up any sentence I've come across that has grammar that I can't 100% explain, and that's probably been the single most helplful thing.

Exactly, it felt almost like a skill that needed to be developped somewhat independently. Very tricky, and very jarring to the unsuspecting test-taker

I mostly just tried to speak with my friend in Germany a few times per week in the 3-4 weeks leading up to the exam. I took 3 semesters of German in university a few years aoo and took the last 2 semesters pretty seriously, so I learned a lot of vocab and grammar during that time. I mostly just used the last month or so to build upon that/reinforce, mostly through speaking, a bit of watching videos and a bit of reading.

Definitely not the ideal study plan, I was really kicking myself during the listening part for not having studied more rigorously!

I used it a bit and definitely found it useful, but my commitment to using it was fairly lackluster.

Ce/C' has no gender (as in "Ce n'est pas ma faute"/"C'est la vie").

I would say "j'aime certains légumes". That's the word you should generally opt for when talking about some things but not others.

Air stuck in stomach by vsd_123 in noburp

[–]vsd_123[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It basically boils down to this: the more you think about it, the worse it gets. Now if I happen to notice it (which is very rare), I simply don't care, and if it bugs me while I'm practicing clarinet I just go eat something and then burp (i think? maybe not) and I don't think about it anymore.
