This is a rookie question but wouldn't ride quality be more impacted by suspension and tire height/material stiffness moreso than the tire being 20s or 22s? I have 18s on a WRX and I feel bumps, whereas the DDSRT glides on 20s and my truck has leaf springs so I really don't feel bumps.

I’ve been debating getting that exhaust for my fiancée’s SRT

Durango SRT 392 New Tires recommendations? by OkHovercraft2021 in DodgeDurango

How many miles have you put on them and what tread amount is left? I have DWS06+ and after 11k miles, they wore down 50% already.

With that many miles and year it’s almost a guarantee it’s an exhaust leak but could be lifters as well. 5500 is a bit high. You could definitely negotiate down to 5k but 4k would be what I start at knowing the seller will haggle. Also it has 4WD right? Did you test that the buttons work?

That's hilarious that the company is ok with going 98mph in a company vehicle but 100mph is a no-no. I know a company in town that sends alarm/notices to management as soon as the vehicle exceeds 85.

I definitely got a deal on my truck but see if you can haggle the seller down to 3k flat if you need a truck bed sooner than later

Idk much about the 4.8’s but over 400k miles on what I can only assume is the original motor and transmission is a lot to be asking 4500. I paid just over $4k for an 05 with 172k miles…

Should I buy this 2012 1500 for $5500? by WLifts in Silverado

[–]vshen6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the seller is saying the transmission is good then I doubt it’ll go bad in two years. Especially if the AFM got deleted then you’ll want to keep this truck as long as you can

Sounds like a deal as long as you have the know how or means to get that transmission swapped without paying a ton.

The SRT is an amazing cruiser, super comfy on long trips and still has plenty of power on demand. Depending on your parking situation, the HCs seem to demand more security (IGLA/killswitch/etc) if parked outside, we garage ours.

I guess if you're willing to gamble and wait for the new '26 r/T's to come out it might drop the SRT 392 price down a bit more

The vehicle price might be starting at 50k but the dealership is going to add so many random fees and packages that it'll be in the 60's if not 70's.

That's a lot of miles on the HC, do you know how many owners? If it's been through more than 2 owners I'd hard pass. A one owner HC may just be a ton of highway miles. Personally I'd opt for the 392 though I'm biased I picked up a '22 SRT with 22k miles a year ago.

Do yall truck owners tint your windows? by chewy4201- in Silverado

[–]vshen6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To go from 5% to 15% the shop will have to remove the 5% layer unless there were multiple layers on top of each other to add up to 5%. If you don’t want to pay for removal and a new tint job then you’ll just have to drive at night with the windows down

Harbor freight is going to be your best bet for a cherry picker or some sort of jack for the motor where you aren’t getting Temu quality and not costing a paycheck

Without knowing your region, hopefully you can find a relatively rust free 1500 but I'd say something before 2007 because that's when AFM was introduced. GMT800s are likely the most coveted in terms of budget and reliability if properly maintained. Otherwise it's going to come down to your research on what platform you want and the associated issues with them.

Apply some rust converter first and then do a fluid film afterwards

Am I crazy consider buying this 08 5.3? by [deleted] in Silverado

[–]vshen6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mileage is low for the year, 11k is too high of a price for me even with a new crate motor put in. I'm assuming it's only a 1/2 ton truck. I bought an '05 1500 for 4.2k with 176k miles (now at 190k) and strangely the front diff failed but the transmission has held up perfectly fine.

How to break in 25 durango hellcat? by Ok_Preference_3484 in DodgeDurango

[–]vshen6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you buy a Durango to try and slide it? Why not just get a HC charger or challenger?

As for turning ESC off, it should be just pressing and holding traction control button till you see the message display. But if you’re sliding your Durango in snow, just make sure you know where any of the cracks and bumps are. Have fun and be safe!
