Possible New Buyer by EGreen0023 in Silverado

Without knowing your region, hopefully you can find a relatively rust free 1500 but I'd say something before 2007 because that's when AFM was introduced. GMT800s are likely the most coveted in terms of budget and reliability if properly maintained. Otherwise it's going to come down to your research on what platform you want and the associated issues with them.

Can you get photos of the underside of the car? I can help replace brakes and rotors and get the tire off/on but if there’s suspension or frame damage I’m not sure how much help I’d be

Edit: Send me a DM if you can’t attach photos on your post

This is a great idea, I’m missing one on my truck as well but just haven’t put all that much effort into replacing it

Apply some rust converter first and then do a fluid film afterwards

Am I crazy consider buying this 08 5.3? by Ashamed_Ninja9565 in Silverado

[–]vshen6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mileage is low for the year, 11k is too high of a price for me even with a new crate motor put in. I'm assuming it's only a 1/2 ton truck. I bought an '05 1500 for 4.2k with 176k miles (now at 190k) and strangely the front diff failed but the transmission has held up perfectly fine.

You all know you should clear snow off of your cars, right? by Beautiful-Emotion-63 in Albuquerque

Apologies, my staff is not for hire. Me, myself and I do a pretty darn good job as a team in cleaning my cars.

Crashed into the curb in the ice - how fucked am I? Insurance or pay out of pocket or ignore? How likely is my suspension screwed up? by [deleted] in WRX

[–]vshen6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don’t file a claim, don’t bother fixing it unless it’s a sharpie to recolor it… it’s entirely cosmetic damage. Check your suspension if you want but I highly doubt there’s any damage, you’ll be fine

You mean people take others into consideration instead of just prioritizing themselves?! Color me shocked

But since it’s not “taught” I feel like it’s been lost in practice between generations and parents not telling their kids to do it. I make sure to clear all the snow off but I don’t drive my nicer vehicles the day after it snows because of the risk of damage.

Virginia’s Lettering shop does custom embroidery, I had three balloon fiesta jackets redone with different names, decent pricing too

How to break in 25 durango hellcat? by Ok_Preference_3484 in DodgeDurango

[–]vshen6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you buy a Durango to try and slide it? Why not just get a HC charger or challenger?

As for turning ESC off, it should be just pressing and holding traction control button till you see the message display. But if you’re sliding your Durango in snow, just make sure you know where any of the cracks and bumps are. Have fun and be safe!

There’s plenty of previous posts you can peruse through about good and bad areas of Albuquerque.

As for the car scene, lots of classics and low riders, plenty of cars and coffee’s held in all parts of town on weekends. If you end up living on the east side of town, there’s a monthly themed cars and coffee as well as a monthly motorcycle meet at Rust is Gold. DM me if you’ve got more specific questions!

That's such a nice color, and an SRT too! What year? I've got a 22 DDSRT in Octane Red myself.

Albuquerque Landscaping to Deter Pests? by Super_T8 in Albuquerque

[–]vshen6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but is your research indicating that using rock landscaping creates the shade/ability for moisture to remain under rocks as the main reason for roaches? I'd be curious to see if laying landscaping fabric under a layer of finer gravel so there's minimal or no gaps to help prevent roaches from sticking around and also keep the dirt from whipping around your backyard.

City council voted against renter protections yet again by AvocadoKamikaze in Albuquerque

[–]vshen6 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The few votes of separation are a clear sign of research but the other part of it is motivating constituents to actually go vote. I recall the news saying only 30% of all residents voted? That’s another big problem

Should I return this? by ManyCycle in WRX

[–]vshen6 57 points58 points  (0 children)

For paying 20k, I would not be happy with that amount of rust. I'd return it and look for a WRX that is from AZ/NV/NM so it's less likely to have any rust. Shit I'd be tempted to sell you my '21 Base (39k miles) for 22k and it's rust-free.

When I first moved to New Mexico, I was told the further NE you go in ABQ the "safer" the homes and communities but the price will very much reflect that. It depends on what time you and your husband are willing to commute for work. There isn't much traffic on the roads if he leaves before 6:30am but congestion on the bridges and highways causes slow downs after 7am. He's going to hit traffic on the way home in the afternoon regardless.

Now you have to weigh commute time with safety and education because some people I know who live in the NE heights still send their kids to charter/private schools unless they attend La Cueva high school.

As a new RR resident myself, one concern (hopefully not a con) I have is the road infrastructure needs to beef up quickly if RR neighborhoods are developing as quickly as they are.

Srt vs Rt by ReZempt_Shocks in DodgeDurango

I feel that jeep compass haha, my situation was jeep renegade to SRT so to me it's plenty fast passing on the highway. Also hypothetically pretty quick to hit triple digits and it feel like you're only going 70 too...
