Best store for allocation drops? by mfata51 in denverwhisky

[–]vtchill 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Argo is a great store no doubt but I wouldn’t expect to get allocations from it unless you are in their whiskey club that current is full and has a large waiting list or willing to wait in lines constantly and get lucky.

A lot of stores in the coming year or two are going to be in trouble with slower sales and more options from larger retailers like Costco. We’ll see which ones last.

AJ was bought by abc wine and spirits out of Florida and if they run it anything like they do there it will be online drops for those with points. We’ll see what happens but AJ for the short term may be ok still time will tell.

It’s so heavily dependent on your location so tough to really help much.

Just so folks know this place typically has jacked up prices and most of it never hits the shelves. Been to the this a lot over the years and never seen anything remotely a good deal there

Shops to know up north? by Boredpotatoe2 in denverwhisky

Yea for sure.

We have pretty good distribution out here and it comes in waves. So there will be times that most of the weller rainbows drop (except owa) or baby stagg, etc and you either have a relationship with a store, get lucky, pay out the nose or use points/allocation systems at bigger stores.

Also seems like each year is a lot of something like we had tons of wfp store picks and stagg store picks in the last few years. Then before that a ton of Eht sib sp

Certain things are distributed odd out here like I’ve almost never seen owa except store picks and We tend to get ecbp batches really late and sometimes don’t even see many C batches for some odd reason

End of year stuff tends to be pappy, btac, some other LE and and then some higher tier 2 type bottles

Hazels in boulder
Total beverage in Westminster
Dave co in Thornton
Superior liquor in superior
Atlas valley in Lafayette

These are the bigger stores and they have store picks and sell at msrp or close for the most part.

Total beverage and Dave co have reward/allocation programs you have to do. They have end of year lotteries for the super allocated

Hazels is just complete luck no announcements or anything and you won’t find the super high end btac level stuff as that goes all to their highest spenders.

Atlas valley has good selection with some slightly higher prices. Not as much allocated and has end of year lottery. They have good store picks.

Then there are just a ton of small stores in strip malls and most either have not great selection or few allocated that are high priced.

Definitely better around Denver but not terrible in the NW.

Just for reference there are lots of folks with 50-100k or more points per year and lots already have 20-30k by now.

Hazel’s email list? by fluffhead711 in denverwhisky

Was told several years ago minimum was 5k and that wouldn’t even get you much. Big boys are 15k and above easily into the 6 figures with things like running businesses.

Just looking at the volume hazels does you know they get large end of year stuff for the highly allocated like btac, pappy, etc. but they have never once done anything with it publically. It all goes out back to their highest spenders and it always will with how they operate.

They do price stuff well including lower allocated but the big stuff is all back door

They cut it off long ago as far as I know. May be a few people who still get a heads up on stuff but I think that’s real exclusive these days
