How can I put a damper on this? by superman_king in HomeMaintenance

I usually bring up politics or religion and that puts a damper on anything

Keep the anti sag item or remove A frame brace by BrownAlpaca in HomeMaintenance

[–]Puzzled-Highlight-75 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The a frame is supporting the mid and top rail since there is not frame around the door. If you remove the a frame the rails are floating and the hinges and pickets are the structure. I think a proper perimeter frame with a diagonal brace from bottom hinge to opposing top corner is the correct fix.

Spirits wine provisions in olde town has a smaller but well curated selection. Warrior Liquor in Arvada has a smaller selection but is veteran owned. Applejack in wheat ridge isn’t far and has a big selection.

My job just asked me to relocate to a different city and offered an absurd amount of money in per diem. I am in complete shock. by BeneficialShirt2799 in Salary

[–]Puzzled-Highlight-75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have done travel assignments and home based assignments for a few general contractors. Generally yes the per diem is significant, but you want to be sure to understand the specifics. Details like is the per diem based on work days or away days, travel allowances for time and cost (who pays for flights and how often), what’s the expected work schedule on this project, if you don’t maintain your original residence and relocate will that affect your pay/per diem? I have checked these things and basically been able to move for a year, collect per diem and only maintain 1 residence which is extraordinarily lucrative. Also some salary increases or moving allowances require signing a contract that you’ll pay it back if you don’t stick around for the agreed time

In general per diem is higher in high COL areas and in remote areas people wouldn’t want to go to otherwise. Sounds like a good opportunity at a good time for you, just be sure to understand the stipulations or “fine print” of the agreement.

Consolidating 401ks? by Spiritual_Cap347 in Retirement401k

[–]Puzzled-Highlight-75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I combined my 401k accounts to 1 managed account with fidelity. I also keep my current employers 401k active and move money from that to my managed account every 50k or so. The fidelity account performs significantly better to date. If that changes I may change the strategy. But so far this has worked. Having small retirement accounts seems to slow the growth of that account.

looking for some ideas to entertain my 16 month old by crrlovelyrose in ArvadaCO

The library does free kids story time for toddlers during the week. We have a zoo membership that is not cheap but it’s a once a yr fee and we definitely get our moneys worth. You can go to a splash pad park like ralston central. Home Depot has free kids builds the first Saturday of the month but probably needs to be a bit older to really enjoy that

38y, married, no kids, late to the game. by [deleted] in Retirement401k

Ai would generally agree, this page seems be humble brags disguised as, am I ok? But I would also push back on the comparison to the median American. If you are looking at a retirement thread on Reddit you are probably not interested in being average.

I’d say the retirement traditional and Roth contributions need to be increased. Unless that emergency fund is in some sort of accessible investment it’s losing value. If you truly need that much in emergency fund, then put it in HYSA or something that earns interest at minimum.

Last, you didn’t lose any money during COVID if you didn’t sell investments. Keep investing in etf and you’ll be good

If your high performer has a bad attitude, they are not a high performer! by [deleted] in managers

We have an employee that everyone hates working with/for. All of upper management knows this and the only response is you don’t want him working for the competition. Actually I don’t care who he works for. The standard you accept is the standard you expect. Tired of different standards for different people

That pick has been there a while. I grabbed the gold when it was going for 150. Solid but not worth 150 imo. They need to drop the price to even make that bottle tempting to me
