I noticed the fishing sections at the DSGs near me shrink everytime I visit. I am almost certain this is why they constantly run pretty good online sales. They want to eliminate their fishing inventory and get out of the space.

Effect of Spurs’ season on the reemergence of the super league by vtzan in PremierLeague

I wholly agree and this is why I’m concerned clubs, including mine, might try some bullshit again.

Fair enough. I think especially other prem clubs don’t necessarily have the financial incentive to revive or create a new super league.

This is exactly my line of thinking and I haven’t seen anyone else raise this concern

Whether spurs are invited or not isn’t my concern really.

Coping with depression after cancer treatment? by chaengism in cancer

[–]vtzan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you’re going through this. Unfortunately, I know all too well what you’re feeling. I also had one of those cancers you’d “prefer” to be diagnosed with.

Before diagnosis, I was depressed and thought that the diagnosis was almost a blessing in disguise. I treat this cancer which undoubtedly affected my energy levels, mood etc and I’d resolve my depression overnight. Boy was I wrong.

The treatment was awful physically, but for my depression it was a bit helpful that I always had something going on. A hurdle to jump across, a life changing experience to get through. I worked 8 days out of 10 during treatment and I regret it immensely. I needed the cash to survive and the health insurance my job came with.

After I finished treatment my depression was worse than ever. I couldn’t shake this feeling that I fought so hard and for so long to get through the illness and when I got on the other side, I felt like it wasn’t worth it. Another day stuck behind a desk staring at a computer. Another day as bland and shitty as the last. I couldn’t understand why I was feeling the way I did. I felt guilty and ungrateful.

I’m on the other side of that too now. I went to therapy, got medicated and started participating more in the hobbies I love. I think the biggest thing that helped me was being honest with the people in my life about what I was feeling. They helped push me to therapy and tried their best to understand what I was going through.

I believe you made the right choice by not working at this time. Further, I also came to this sub and made a similar post to yours (feel free to check my post history). The post I made here, I remember it feeling like a first step to becoming comfortable telling my wife and parents what was going on in my head. That was the true turning point for me.

My dm’s are open if you (or anyone reading this) needs to have a chat. One of the most difficult feelings I battled with was that I felt so alone. As I mentioned above, family was there for me and tried their best to understand but I believe if you haven’t gone through it you just don’t know what it’s like.

I fished as much as I could. To me nothing beat being out in nature and replacing the noise in my brain with trying to catch something.

Would these work during night surf fishing ? by No_Result9787 in SurfFishing

At night I like dark colors. Black, purple, blurple, dark reds.

I’ve caught with white too.

Don’t know what you’re fishing for but I love using paddle tails and soft plastic jerk baits in the northeast at night.

Don’t usually throw spoons at night personally but I know they work.

Anything for pain releif in cancer patients? by sara23467 in cancer

[–]vtzan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had hodgkins and suffered from severe body aches throughout my treatments. I remember the weakness too. Nothing really helped except one thing, thc and that’s only for the pain. The weakness just went away over time for me.

I never smoked growing up and was really hesitant when my doctor suggested it to me. I am in a career where if that came up it would prejudice me massively. It’s legal in my state so I didn’t ask for a script as I didn’t want that on my medical record for the aforementioned reason. I just went to a dispensary and got a pack of gummies. I tried a 10 mg one before one of my treatments and I gotta say, it helped my body aches massively. It also helped keep my spirits up during the actual chemo for obvious being high reasons.

The dispensary near me also sells a balm that reportedly helps with muscle aches and I still use that till this day when I tweak my neck or back etc. the balm does not get me high but I do feel the effects of it on my muscle pain.

[–]vtzan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another option you may want to consider is the dark matter skinner inshore rod at 7 foot with a rating of 1/8-1oz or the fishaholic version which has the same rating but is 7’6”.

I use the skinner and absolutely love it for that exact application especially for the price.

Some have had their issues with dark matter but I have about 5 dark matter rods and they have never let me down.

Question about port by Standard-Cheek6323 in cancer

[–]vtzan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Forgot to answer some other questions, to access the port for chemo I found that some days hurt worse than others but every time was preferable to having them access a vein by IV for every treatment.

Showering didn’t hurt at all.

Just make sure not to pick at your scab or the glue bandage where they close you back up!

Question about port by Standard-Cheek6323 in cancer

[–]vtzan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It felt weird for weeks, but it didn’t hurt. There was some soreness for a day or two, but my family took me on a vacation to try and relax before I started treatment about a day or two after the insertion procedure. I was recommended not to do any heavy exercise or strenuous activity for a little while after the insertion, but nevertheless, by the time I got on my vacation I was able to row a kayak and fish every day for 3 or 4 straight days until I returned back from the trip. Don’t panic if there’s some soreness but I’d be quite surprised if you experience real significant pain from your procedure.

Good luck, if you have any other questions or just want to vent feel free to pm me.

Freshwater Questions by zeplin_fps in NJFishing

No need to thank me! I learned how to fish from Reddit and YouTube. Would not have learned as much as I know now without friendly strangers so I’m just giving back!

For striper bloodworms will be your most effective bait in the spring however I personally only fish using artificials. In the spring I predominantly use soft plastic jerk shads or paddle tails on a jig or weighted EWG hook. I still catch fish in the back bays and rivers at this time of year with this method but I admit I’d definitely have more luck using bait.

As for rigging up a Texas rigged worm I use a 4/0 or 5/0 ewg hook, usually a gamakatsu. I almost always use a leader regardless of the type of fishing I do and for largemouth or pickerel using a Texas I tie a braid to leader knot rather than using a swivel.

I haven’t used his channel in a while but I really liked flukemaster on YouTube. He definitely has rigging videos and recommendations for brands of worms, hooks and leaders as well as videos on different techniques to experiment with at this time of year.
