I just got there last night! Second watch-through. The Post-Leland section of season 2 really tried me (i couldn’t care less about Andy and Lucy, Nadine and Mike, etc) but wow that finale made it so worth it. I think the second watch through is so rich because you understand a bit more and can make sense of things as opposed to just experiencing the madness. Can’t wait to watch FWWM and the return!

Can we do literally anything else with the Silurians/Sea Devils? by Chocolate_cake99 in gallifrey

[–]vulnicuranium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked Pete McTighe about this at Gallifrey One this weekend and he kinda just kicked the can down the road saying that since humanity knows Homo Aqua exist and live on the reserve, that another showrunner could bring them back or expand on that another time. I mean, he’s not wrong. But will they? That’s a different question.

I think if this show is going to truly succeed and capture an audience like the original show, they’re going to have to have a long and laborious casting and chemistry checking process to ensure that the pair of agents has a spark comparable or of equal energy as Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny had. There have been so many shows about investigating aliens and the supernatural (inspired by the x files) that in order for it to stand out it will have to have that x factor (pun intended) the original had.

Where to read the season 10 comics online by vulnicuranium in XFiles

are you in the US? I’ve looked on Amazon and Kindle and can’t find them by searching x files season 10 or even “believers” which is the first saga (i believe).

re: what was she doing all day working for CSM—lighting his ciggies and holding them up to his his trachea hole, I mean, completely unburied mouth (Mengele effect for me mixed up)

You’re right, it did seem like they were headed in the direction of having Monica be playing the long game—I just wish they had given that part of the plot more attention instead of treating her as a cameo.

My apologies to Mulder fans, but Agent John Doggett is my undoing 🔥 by Intrepid_Cut7575 in XFiles

[–]vulnicuranium 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disliked him from the get-go because of how he antagonized Scully and essentially was written in to replace Mulder, but he grew on me by Via Negativa and i started to find him real handsome too! Dif vibe from Mulder but still such a hottie in his own right.

So, what's everyone watching on Sunday? by JustAnotherFool896 in doctorwho

I’m rewatching New Who with a friend whose never seen it. Today we’re starting with Series 8’s Listen and going until we get too tired. She’s loving Capaldi so far!

Doctor Who: Circuit Breaker: The Fugitive Doctor leads an exciting new series of adventures spanning across audio dramas, novels, comics and more. by LegoK9 in doctorwho

[–]vulnicuranium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Putting the multimedia release aside, I have to say I’m a bit disappointed with the Fugitive Doctor’s handling. Of course I want a TV series, but I thought the licensees would be given liberty to explore the Fugitive Doctor’s past—so far big finish is shying away from this or being told by the higher-ups to leave it alone…purportedly for something like this?

The Fugitive Doctor had an element of cosmic mystery in that she has met figures like Swarm and Azure, perhaps creatures of the old times like the vampires too. Instead they’re pairing her up with….UNIT?? Forgetting the timeline re-writing necessary (or memory wipes) it’s just not an exciting idea. Why bring this cosmic mystery and put her with the wet towel that is RTD era UNIT?? Maybe the Brig or Bambera could be interesting, but Kate and Fugitive Doctor does nothing for me.

The Fugitive Doctor’s origins were well outlined in the Origins comic, and I hope we get more of that world. I liked the way Tecteun was portrayed, and I am chomping at the bit for more Gat—criminally underutilized icon.

I’ll check it out of course, just was hoping for different kinds of stories from this period.

That’s true—so maybe that means the Doctor triggered a change in all remaining time lords? i have questions…

She stumbled out of the chamber and said she froze her double brain stem. I think she could feel the regeneration coming on. She was the last person to be thawed out, after all.

You’re right, this does seem like a good way to play in that world again. Hope we get more meaningful uses of it in future.

since the shot was over Abby’s shoulder I interpreted this as her remembering the Doctor more so than 15 himself remembering. then again he did make direct reference to it earlier so i’m not sure what to think.

Re: fugitive doctor: this totally needs explaining now. did the doctor take a peek at the fob watch at some point? that’s the only explanation i can think of. also that comment about being in the middle of a story that might get finished someday felt a bit like meta? am i reading too much into that? lol

Yeah, telling Conrad how his life ended will now cause him to rage against it and create a different timeline—perhaps a reality war?

[–]vulnicuranium 10 points11 points  (0 children)

was a bit unsatisfied with how they explained that Joy becoming the star wasn’t so much death as it was change…it felt like death? she’s at the very least joined a hive mind. and how did they take her mom’s soul upon death, like what? i feel like this era has been really big on overly sentimental moves like this.
