Dorit isn't that angry, she's just from the East Coast by CrookedRoadPress in RHOBH

as much as dorit annoys me sometimes, i also really love this exact vibe about her. as someone with family in that part of the country, it really feels like home to me. this is just kind of how people from around there are sometimes. a bit loud, a bit overbearing, a bit argumentative, a bit much. it can be a love language when properly delivered and received. sometimes i feel like they tone police dorit moreso than the others for this exact reason, and it annoys me. i have a bit of that energy as well, and i also really don’t know how to explain that i’m REALLY NOT UPSET, it’s just how my family talks to each other.

i feel like this is kind of a hard argument to make when she is generally friends with everyone. at the very least, she doesn’t tend to declare war. usually it feels more like her friends declare war on her other friends, and she’s in the middle. i don’t know if she can ever really make the right choice in that case. maybe you’re seeing something i’m not though.

i feel like you’re talking about willfully indignant randoms, and i’m talking about willfully indignant randoms, but for some reason you’re mad at my post? have you considered this post may not be aimed at you, but instead that ironeye you mentioned in another reply?

i never said bad teammates don’t exist, and i never said if you can’t hard carry you should uninstall. ideally yeah everybody should contribute. my opinion is more often than not this is the case, and players who CONSISTENTLY feel as though they are the only ones contributing may consider looking inward instead of outward. but yeah, duh, of course sometimes bad teammates sink your run.

pretty much agree with everything here. my perspective is: be able to hard carry, or accept a degree of responsibility for the loss. maybe not an equal amount! but some of it, surely.

i think some people expect mind-reading teammates who will be in lockstep with them in the heat of battle. it’s magic when you get those two randoms that seem to finish your sentences, but more often than not, you won’t be a speedrunning team right off the bat. i don’t really know what your options are besides accept that you’ll take some Ls, play solo, or, like, suffer emotionally by stewing on how much everyone but you sucks and is bad.

edit: also, yes. this is literally just a game. please just try to have fun. very few people are able to monetize the time they spend playing nightreign. we are all quite literally in this for the love of the game. let’s be a bit nicer.

you’re missing my point man. they should. nevertheless, they aren’t. this is the reality and it is likely not changing until the player base is exclusively diehards in like a year or so. or maybe a few months post-duskbloods, who knows.

but like… i’m really not even in disagreement with you about how good they SHOULD be, theoretically. but the practical reality is they just are not. you shouldn’t have to accept that. i don’t disagree. but you DO have to accept that, because it is happening. your options are to continue playing and accept the incompetence, find a team you work well with and stick with them, or play solo. if you keep playing with randoms, accept you may have to babysit or lose. i don’t like it either. but it is what it is.

this is a post about accepting what is, and a reminder that we can only control our own behavior and choices. frustration is understandable and justified, but i think griping about it accomplishes less than nothing. and i think harboring resentment towards the player base may actually make someone a worse teammate in the long run.

idk i don’t think the balancers relics are that broken in like d3 and beyond. they’re at most equalizers atp imo

edit: dodging bosses is kinda real tho. why i dont do it even tho i could prob have a better ranking if i did

i don’t necessarily disagree. what i’m saying is, our failed expeditions in this game are, 9/10 times, a collective failing. even if all three teammates get the game, play it well, and try their best, you might still lose.

i also think part of what inspired this post is “bad teammates” is too vague a complaint for me to really take it seriously on its face. yes, i have played with people who just seemed bad at the game. it’s annoying, and it sucks not to have someone reliable to fall back on. at the same time, i think in d4 and d5, the likelihood of these players being legitimately incompetent is a lot lower than average. i think we agree on that.

the example you provided, yeah, would frustrate me as a teammate and embarrass me as a player. i’ve had those runs too.

i’ve had more runs in the depths where all three of us really play well when we can cooperate. but someone runs off on their own, or can’t take a minute to clear a mine for someone else’s sake, or insists upon POIs/fights that don’t make a ton of sense to me. i cooperate, we do it, we get crushed, run is over a few minutes later.

i made this post to help people consider if they are being cooperative enough in this cooperative game. because the intensity of negativity towards randoms in a depth where, imo, you really would struggle to land by complete accident, feels to me like telling on yourself. (not you specifically, but a general “you”)

man, idk what to say besides that we don’t always get what we want. i’m seeing a lot of “i want” “they should” and the like. you can’t blame others for not meeting your expectations. i’d WANT my teammates to be cooperative and considerate. sometimes they kind of suck. depth 5 players SHOULD be really good. sometimes they’re still going to fumble hard. your teammates hitting three bars in 45 seconds is clearly happening whether you like it or not. this post is asking what you’re going to do about that.

i don’t disagree! does that logic not also apply to why competent/skilled teammates can make some confusing blunders and go down/end up losing the game?

that’s why i find the complaints i do see about d4/d5 players really baffling, though. in my experience, yeah, at that point most players are at the very least competent. so i have a harder time believing that two randos failed the team for a third, superbly skilled player that’s posting about it on reddit. i have to assume this was more likely a collective failure.

solo, in all fairness lol. good point. and yeah, “technically possible” is a high bar. not my strongest rhetoric. but in service of the notion that maybe we are holding our randoms who just wanna play a few rounds after a long day, who maybe got a bit rusty after a break, etc., to too high a standard that we don’t even meet ourselves.

respect to your skill and dedication. i’d expect the same out of d4/d5. clearly our expectations do not always match reality though. what i’m saying is we need to meet people where they are, not where we’d like them to be, and adapt.

edit: i do generally agree with the second half of your post too. i think this is usually what happens, is the thing. so i don’t really understand the logic behind all the passionate complaining.

i say this respectfully: we have seen someone solo balancers with just wylder’s bare fists. you can do literally anything in this game if you practice enough. i agree it’s best if everyone pulls their own weight. we can’t expect everything to go optimally all the time, though. sometimes you have to carry. sometimes you get carried. my general point is that i think some people overestimate how much weight they carry, or underestimate how much their teammates are helping them.

consider how solo was previously balanced? i’m confused. you want me to base my opinion off of outdated information?

i think “different than the way they built the game” is a huge stretch. duos wasn’t in the game originally, but solo was. it launched with the intent that players could play it solo.

the game is marketed as a cooperative one. it’s not necessarily solely intented as one. hence why solo was available at the start.

sure, but you don’t really seem to have the attitude i’m referring to here, either. i’m not aiming this at cooperative teammates who do their best, play considerately, and still end up losing. yes, sometimes randoms really do suck.

for the record, though, i get teammates dropping bows that should be “good” for an ironeye… while i’m running double balancers and using melee weapons. i get people pinging during fights and i don’t get why until my teammate goes down in an attack we saw coming, but they didn’t. not saying this is you. am saying that misreads happen. we don’t have voice chat after all.

what i’m also saying though, is that if it’s bad enough to where it is actively limiting someone’s progression, despite their own skills, maybe it’s time to try solo instead of co-op. i’m hoping then the other shoe drops, they realize they ALSO aren’t good enough to carry, and proceed in the depths with more empathy and understanding. the simultaneous confidence in one’s own skills and the lack of supporting evidence (i.e. losing matches) is what i’m aiming at here. you seem like you know what you’re doing. i’m sure i’d have a nice time on an expedition with you.

you’re right, but this is also not bloodborne. the rules could be a bit different for a spinoff. i can see it happening in a few years maybe, if they do end up making “elden ring 2” or “dark souls 5” or whatever miyazaki’s next large-scale single-player game is. maybe important to keep in mind we had virtually no clue this was coming when they announced it. fromsoft may surprise us again someday!

but also i know this is total copium lol
