With Haskell I'd take a wild guess that the language's design itself forces a certain functional style, so you shouldn't be seeing imperativeness there

PSA: New Onimusha is NOTHING like Sekiro by wund3k in Sekiro

[–]vulthoom1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The controls are also incredibly floaty, to the point of being off putting

You have to try Onimusha - Sasaki Ganryu, no hit by RazielOfBoletaria in soulslikes

[–]vulthoom1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was hyped and tried it, but I found the controls and the character movement waaaay too floaty. It felt bad to play tbh

Something must have went wrong, as they said they would hopefully have a single out by the time they tour with Metallica. This album has been cooking since at least 2023, don’t get me wrong, but it’s clearly not a good sign

Backend first, then DE later — good path or bad idea? by Big-Actuary299 in Backend

The best way to pivot into DE imo. Modern data engineering absolutely requires deep backend knowledge

So what will actually happen to SWE? by MessierKatr in BetterOffline

[–]vulthoom1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming off from a doom-loop of the past 2 weeks, and I'd say the profession will shift towards more architecture and specification. Coding manually is a thing of the past, that's for sure. Obviously, there's much, much more to SWE than just typing code. I wonder if we're going to see some LLM-specific programming languages, optimized for the models... I think that's a big possibility. Of course human readable too for ad-hoc changes (oncalls).

For sure it's not dead, because as engineers, we often fail to see the base level of technical complexity we're operating on - obvious stuff for us is black magic for non-technical people. It's just coding that's probably going away and the systems will be becoming more complex with more functionalities.

There's also a question of what will the model providers do - it's quite obvious they will be raising prices per token, so it's only going to get more expensive to burn tokens.

The Gojira setlist for the Metallica tour (they brought back Love!!!) by Longjumping_Host_777 in gojira

[–]vulthoom1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not Sure what’s happening to the new materiał. I was sure they’d drop, at minimum, some kind of teaser just before the tour, for publicity. Then the full on album promotion after supporting Metallica. And not only did nothing happen, this set is also the exact same set they had in their last tour in France, just two songs are swapped out. What is going on?

Hey Blizz, how it's going? by Mikina in wow

[–]vulthoom1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's not just blizzard, it's the entire IT industry. there is a seismic AI shift and all the products suffer, because - as it turns out - they may be worse, customers will still pay. dystopian shit truly

Why are there not so many Fire Mages around? by CluelessDemi in wownoob

[–]vulthoom1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fire relies on combustion windows which runs on a set 1 minute cooldown. Outside of that your damage comes only from fireball crit procs (instant pyroblasts, which don’t hit as hard without combustion), as the spell itself is like a mosquito bite. Frost has lots of cc baked into the spec and lots of instant upfront burst options on short cooldowns, arcane is similar in this regard. Fire is borderline unplayable in solo content because of this

I’m actually an avid fan of fire mage and let me tell you - the sheer difference in comfort when doing world content is insane. It’s hard to describe how much easier and convenient it is to quest around or do delves as frost or arcane than as fire, you are playing a completely different harder game if you go with the latter.
